Very simple, a few months ago, there was a discussion on vaccines in here, where someone stated some sites have linked vaccines with autism. I can't seem to find them, just lots of boards arguing this. Where are the sites with research into this?

CDC is usually a pretty good place to start.

Ambyra vs the Asylum.

From what I recall their were studies done by a few quacks which said there was a link. Those studies were discredited by the american scientist union or the CDC or some such thing. Then those quacks questioned the reviews done on their work.

The rest was tale chasing.

Thanks.... I only asked because my son was diagnosed with autism yesterday.. (His program people had been pointing towards it for the last couple of weeks.) So I'm trying to cover my bases on the "why."

I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't mind my asking, how old is he?

My sympathies for your son. The study in question stated that the rate of autism was increasing however it used a broader range of criteria to determine autism than previous studies. You can read more about it here.

Autism spectral disorder is one of those conditions which has a number of genetic and environmental factors. You may never know the reason 'why' because the why in each case might be any one of a dozen contributing factors.

Hopefully it was caught when the child was young, hopefully the daycare, school your child in has people properly equipped and trained to work with your child. Hopefully you have the patience and motivation to educate yourself and work with the people who are working with your child to help them in any way possible.

My girlfriend actually specializes in working with Autism, they are great kids and with the proper regimen they can attain a certain amount of normalcy depending on the situation.

He just turned 3. We actually started him with special ed preschool today. He is high functioning, which is wonderful, but I'm still a little in shock with the outcome. 2 yrs ago, he was just a little behind in speech. 1 yr ago, he was just delayed in speech... 6 months ago, he was just delayed in communication. 3mos, delayed in communication in communication and social skills.. I knew there was something wrong, but didn't think it'd be this..

Well the fact that he is high functioning is great.

With the proper workers and if you get yourself trained there is a great chance that he will turn out to be your everyday average kid, at worse a little bit of an odd ball.

Be wary of putting him in blanket special education programs though, get a program focused on autism such as ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis). He basically needs the tools and training to learn how to socialize normally. It is not as if he is unable to improve, he does have the IQ and learning ability of any other functional child.

If you start teaching him to count cards now, you can all be living comfortably in the suburbs of Vegas in a few short years!

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.
