Saw Grindhouse tonight. It's long at three hours but the 2nd half of Deathproof made it worth the wait and the price of admission.

Anyone else catch it?

I thought about checking it out this week, but 3 hours is a long time to sit without touching myself.

Ever or recently?

One must know these things when they are evaluating seeing a movie based solely on some stranger's opinion.

My rat ******* friends saw it this weekend without me, I hate tax season.

I could very easily say ever. It was the only time I could remember actually laughing out loud, groaning and just all out saying Daaaaaaaaaaaammnnn and such. But thee have been many movies that would be the *Best* nudge nudge wink wink time at the movies. For an all out experiance then Yes. Smiley: thumbsup Smiley: thumbsup

Was a disappointment at the box office. I was surprised. I would have thought there was enough of an audience for this. I'm thinking it was both films back-to-back that got to be a bit much.

I want to see it. Sounds like if I don't see it soon, it might be at the $2 mall theatre complete with broken & stained seats and sticky floors for that real grindhouse experience!

Think it was undermarketed, or at least not marketed in a clear enough way.

I had heard about it prior to release but I wasn't bombarded with advertisement before hand and if I brought it up in a conversation the other person was like 'yeah I think I might have heard of that kind of'. Unlike '300' where you were beaten over the head of Leonidas screaming 'We are SPARTAAAAAAA' every commercial break for 2-3 weeks prior to its opening.

Well, it isn't surprising when it has to compete against epic films like Are We Done Yet.

I liked it.
Sarah thought it was the most horribly disgusting thing she's ever had to watch.

Good times.

It was a really fun movie. It wasn't in any way a "great" movie, it was just extremely fun. It was well done, and the fake movie trailers were just hilarious. "Don't!" and "Thanksgiving", classic.

Why do you have an ASCII ***** bumping up against the letter K at the end of your post?

I've added some balls so it's at least a bit more anatomically correct.

/bump since I'm probably going to see this this weekend, haha.

To anyone that's seen it: Do they roll credits after the first movie? Will I have a potty break anywhere in there if I go see this?

A fun review by a bitter critic: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20034720,00.html

Go at the start of deathproof you wont miss anything but a black chick smoking a bong on the couch. Probably the best time to go since they don't roll credits and the trailers are hilarious.

I wish that, once a movie hits three hours long, they'd do a 15 minute intermission in the middle. Movie theaters make most of their money off concessions anyway, so I can't see any reason not to.

I would guess that it's because they're all about keeping you immersed in the plot, and not so much being considerate of your bladder. They probably expect the vast majority of their viewers will be men, who can simply pop the top off their jumbo Coke and relieve themselves there.

so I can't see any reason not to.

American teenagers, the market for movies, have the attention span of a gnat and would start chewing the upholstery off of the seats and ************ if there more than a 10 second break without something being on the screen.

This is why they'll be breaking Grindhouse up into two movies, 19 year old boys tried to picture themselves sitting in one place watching a screen for 3 hours without a remote control or video game controller and started falling over dead, mouths foaming, all throughout Abercromibe and Fitch stores across the nation.

Saw it this afternoon. Definitely a good time. Robert Rodriguez did an awesome homage to the genre. Tarantino's second part of his film was great, but there were parts in it that were really not interesting at all. Well worth the price of ticket.

** Rose McGowan was awesome - her best role to date (in the first film). The chick who played Josh Brolin's wife was awesome, too. Hell, even Fergie was great in the small role she had.

I just wish someone close to QT could be honest with him and let him know that he shouldn't try to act. Because he's bad at it - really, really bad at it. I'm talking worse than Ben Affleck bad (who actually was decent in Hollywoodland - go figure). He distracts from the movie. His contribution to film should remain behind the camera.

**Edited - forgot to mention this last night.
