TMBG has been around since I was a teenager. I don't think they really qualify as a college type band anymore. They're more like aging hipsters now, kinda like Nobby.

Anyone else see Gigantic? If you like the band, you'll probably enjoy it. I am not a superfan and went to the showing reluctantly. And I did enjoy the thing immensely. however I am a big fan of the radio program This American Life.

If you're going to watch it and are only passingly familiar with the band, what you need to know is that anytime someone speaks, at length, and doesn't seem to be making any sense - they are rendering the lyrics of a song in spoken word form. Or you took one too many hits on the bong.

I still like Particle Man the most I think.

When he's underwater does he get wet? Or does the water get him instead?

You tend to chime in (so to speak) with these "Music? wut's that?" kinds of comments.

If you don't like rock and roll, that's okay. But there's no need to keep mentioning it.
I was really more surprised that everyone immediately knew them by the initials and, even after I googled, they seemed like an obscure band to me. I might even like them, haven't had a chance to listen to anything yet. Recommend me their "best song" and I'll give it a try.

It isn't really a matter of not liking the music. The last music thread that I remember was Joph talking about Regina Spektor. I had also not heard of her but I ended up listening to her and now I have the CD.

CrescentFresh:music::Nobby:dentistry -- It might be good, everyone else might be doing it, and I might like it if I tried it, but I just haven't been exposed to it that much.

And my thing with music is really much, much less of a Smiley: deadhorse than half the stuff that passes for interesting conversation around here.

I would actually highly doubt that you haven't heard any of their stuff, and find it more likely that you just didn't know who you were listening to.

I'd say my favorite songs are "Ana Ng" and "Birdhouse in Your Soul". I would bet that you've at least heard "Istanbul", "Particle Man" and the "Boss of Me" since it's the theme to Malcolm in the Middle and they played it a fair bit on the radio.

Two out of three ain't bad. I had heard "Istanbul" and "Particle Man" both before, but "Boss of Me" wasn't familiar. They were all "ok" to me, meaning I probably wouldn't pay any money to listen to them but if they happen to be on somewhere and I'm around that'll be fine too.

The song that I first fell in love with is "They'll Need a Crane", but I was in a hella ****** mood back then, hahahaha.
