I'm also just a touch shy of 190 and am generally pleased with my physique except for a bit of a beer-pouch. I can't get rid of it for the life of me, not that I've tried.

I have tried a couple times but its something I can't seem to get rid of. I have always had a pooch since I was young and I was always active and fit.

I was quite happy when I got on the scale this morning. I am 5 lbs out from my pre-preg weight and feelin' fine. Now, if I could just find time to get a haircut.

I picture you as a tiny little Borrower sized pixie hopping up on a 10 pound balance and then hopping down to lift a thimble up and on to the other plate.

I'm not sure that's the proper kind of peer pressure you want to be using.

"I'm staring at some Nestle Butterfinger eggs right now. Instead of eating them, I'm going to send them to Niz."

I fully recommend that anyone who is looking at sweets and wants to lose weight to just send them my way. I'll find a good home for them.

If you're willing to hit the gym, I'd recommend this program. You don't have to follow the diet dead on, but use it as a guideline. The program is great for getting into shape. Once you hit your target condition, you need to change to another routine, but this is one of the better exercise/diet programs around for quick weight loss because it incoporates a well rounded lifestyle change. Important to remember to up your lifting weight or repetitions every 2-3 weeks. Every 4-5 week, change your exercises for the week, to "shock" the body and keep it from adjusting too much to the routine.

I don't plan on hitting weights yet. I am looking to start the diet though. I almost ordered Nutri System the other week, but not sure how effective it would be. I also have some high energy impact dance dance DVDs that the wifey picked up. I'd like to work on my stamina first before weights be it aerobics, or running, walking, biking, etc. (smoking doesn't help either, I need to quit that also)

As far as weights to, I just regularly lift a 30 pound toddler. That seems to cover that part.

Stationary bike or real bike? Real bike should use hills. not huge ones, but stay away from completely flat ground, and try to sprint every 2-3 minutes for 1-2 minutes. Stationary bike (21 minute routine), start with 2 minutes on a very very very low level, go up a level for a minute, another one for the next minute, again, again, again, back to miute 3 level and repeat. On last upward climb, go one extra resistance level, then 2 minute cool down.

Should look something like:
1-2minute: level 1
minute 3: level 3
m4: lvl 4
m5: lvl 5
m6: lvl 6
m7: lvl 7
m8: lvl 3
...
m17: lvl 7
m18: lvl 8
m19-20: level 1, cool down.

Can do that on any cardio peice. Rowing machine was one I always liked.

Edit: bike routine missed a level

I see words like "diet" and "lifestyle change" in there. Also, "shock". Thanks but no thanks; I'll just keep my little beer-pouch. It's hardly noticeable, and it's really just more of me to love.

I lift daily, and spend tons of time on my feet around the farm, but I eat without regard to the effect it has on my body, I drink pretty much every day, I smoke and I'm happy. I figure with the inviting warmth of spring I'll get more hiking in and start riding the bike again. I s'pose I could get one of those videos Sora was talking about, but then I'd end up jerking off to it, which may be cardio, but can't be as good for me as a good bike ride.

Our town has hills all over. When the weather warms up we like to do at least a 3-5 mile ride every weekend or so. We have a huge treadmill in the house but its such a pain in the *** to move out and I hate having stuff clogging up my basement bar.

Oh and BT in one of the DVDs she does the workouts in a school girl dress.

I started that whole routine so I could eat with little regard when I felt like it. I only use the diet section as a general guide line for when I don't care if I have that 14oz steak, or 4 burgers. When I say diet, that means not always having fries. In other words, if I wanted fries, I thought, are the fries any good at this place? If not, I got a salad or something else. I reserveed crap food for places that made "good" crap food. The "shock" to the body isn't an actual shock, but if you do the same routine day in day out, your body adjusts and won't build muscle (muscle building burns off fat all day whereas cardio does so only while you're doing it). By changing the wieght scheme every few weeks, you keep the body from falling into a routine that it can adjust to. And you can drink your face off on this routine. Just need to cut out beer and mix and drink your booze straight if you want to get tanked daily. I've got a feeling you can handle that part BT. But if all you want is 1-2 drinks a day, you can still have them.

I've got to get into some kind of shape. Prepping for the Boston Marathon is out of the question (has that happened already?) but I still need to find a way to break 130.
