Ahhh the beauty of the good ole 'I don't care, your words can't hurt me' routine. The last refuge of intellectual f'uckwits across the internet. On the surface a simple come back stating that one is unharmed and unaffected by the literary assault launched by the person you are debating, in truth it is more of a admittance to ones own inability to respond back in a more skillful and biting manner.

It is the figurative 'sweatpants' of internet flaming. It fits comfortably but reaks entirely of bitter defeat.

Smiley: disappointed

I guess my other options are to remain silent, which is dull, or I can flex my e-thugness by pulling out my e-gat and reciprocating the flames.

Yeah, or maybe instead, I'll just hold to the opinion that a statement of fact, be it, "I don't care," or "2+2=4" is just that, and nothing else. If you want to consider it an admission of intellectual defeat, have at it, cuz:

Quote:
I don't care

I tell you this not to express my own apathy, but to do you the favor of saving you some werdz so you won't needlessly contribute to carpal tunnel. You can keep it up, or not. Your opinion of me is clear and I'm not going to try to change your mind (because again, I don't care). I'm only here during work hours to entertain myself, and as long as you continue to be entertaining, well, I'm sure you get the idea.

But of relevance to that argument, it's a false dillema, and I'm disappointed that people still fall for it. If you assume that it's true, then the person either has to stop posting (give you the "last laugh" so you "r teh winnar") or keep posting, and reaffirm that, as you so cleverly pointed out, they do care.

Funny how it only seems to apply to internet discussions though. You'll never see this:

"Honey, where do you want to eat?"

"I don't care."

"Aha, so you DO care! If you didn't care you would have said nothing!
I want to eat at Outback."

"I don't care."

"See, I knew you cared!"

Yeah, so, false dilemma.

You're a curious creature. Very wordy for a moran. I'm sure the majority would, in fact, prefer that you just stop posting. The correct answer is to stop posting in response to being called out for the idjit you is. If you truly didn't care then no, you wouldn't respond and you surely wouldn't respond at length. Perhaps you just don't understand what the word 'care' means?

I wasn't aware that the quality of my posts had deteriorated so much. I remember not long ago in OOT that you specifically complimented my logical objectivity. Perhaps you're just jumping on the bandwagon. Oh well, the reason is inconsequential. If there is one of us who has lost face with the other, it's you with me.

Quote:

Maybe not, let's see.

Quote:
1. a state of mind in which one is troubled; worry, anxiety, or concern: He was never free from care.
2. a cause or object of worry, anxiety, concern, etc.: Their son has always been a great care to them.
3. serious attention; solicitude; heed; caution: She devotes great care to her work.
4. protection; charge: He is under the care of a doctor.
5. temporary keeping, as for the benefit of or until claimed by the owner: He left his valuables in the care of friends. Address my mail in care of the American Embassy.
6. grief; suffering; sorrow.

Ah, as I suspected, none of those apply. Interesting. Let's try this one.

Quote:
1. the act of entertaining; agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement: Solving the daily crossword puzzle is an entertainment for many.
2. something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement, esp. a performance of some kind: The highlight of the ball was an elaborate entertainment.
4. a divertingly adventurous, comic, or picaresque novel.

Hey, all of those seem to fit.

I think the word you were looking for was entertainment.

Do I win this internet argument yet?

One day a poster can make a good post, another day a poster can be a complete f'ucking mouth breather (Lords knows I am guilty of it). Today you're being a mouth breather, if you don't GARA then move on. It would go along way to proving that you do in fact 'not give a f'uck'. Continously posting that you don't is contrary to your claims.

Hell I would even applaud you if you chose the 'I dont care' route and did it with some literary panache. However you are plodding along in a boring, repetitive and all together sandbox like series of responses that only emphasize that while you may be a good 'forum=sandbox' poster, you do not have the chops to bother posting here. If your conceptualization of the forum is nothing more than 'e-thuggery' then you have failed to understand the spirit of the place and as mentioned should hit the road.

I thought I had already explained how that was a false dilemma, but alas. I don't care, but I also don't care if you think I care, nor do I even care if you're right, and I do in fact care. I can do this dance for as long as I'm marooned in front of a computer at work.

I'm here for my own entertainment, I'll say again. I suggest you learn to deal with it, because I'm not leaving, and your opinion of the quality of my posts will only serve to create more discussions like this one, which I am fine with, but you seem to not be (seems like you guys are the ones that really care :p ) I'm not seeking praise or recognition or anything, so if everyone here really does hate my posts, it doesn't matter to me.

There's really nothing you can do about it, sorry. Wait, maybe you could get me fired :p

You used a logical fallacy to illustrate a logical fallacy.

How does that affect the merit of your argument?

I'm sure you would. I am sure you would appreciate if I held your hand and explained things to you carefuly and concisely in an easy manner, perhaps with some sort of diagram to aide the process.

However this is the Asylum so you are required to think for yourself, and if your line of reasoning happens to be ***** (which it is) we will mock you! Which of course you don't care about, but we will still do it, because we don't care about you! We care about ourselves and inflating our own sense of e-thuggery~!
