Too much time.

I bet even Nexa could pass that.

What you're all forgetting is that the modern third-grader has two kids and a nasty meth addiction to deal with, making such trivial memorization a more difficult undertaking. I can't fathom how they master their multiplication tables these days.

I'd imagine most posters here couldn't fill in that map given 10 "x"s but no more.

Yeah, well, evidently, you'd be wrong. I got the east coast though!

You don't learn about Hawaii and Alaska in the 3rd grade. They teach those in 7th.

I usually have problems remembering which big square western state is which. And I didn't get any kind of score or result at the end; it just went back to the beginning. I had 3 x's; one of which was for dragging a name out then deciding to put it back in the list and save it for later. Smiley: glare

See, I'm just the opposite...probably because I live in Maine. It's all those big, roughly squarey ones out west that I don't have a clue on.

Hell this is even easy for a Canadian. Smiley: rolleyes

Mind you, Canadians that have completed high school generally can identify over 80% of the countries in the world and all of the provinces and states in North America.

I'd be about as skilled at mapping the provinces of Canada as I would be in naming all the features on the moon.

That's *definately* not true. 80% is a lot.

I used to be able to name every nut that there was. And it used to drive my mother crazy, because she used to say, "Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop naming nuts," and the joke was that we lived in Pine Nut, and I think that's what put it in my mind at that point. So she would hear me in the other room, and she'd just start yelling. I'd say, "Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut." That was the one that would send her into going crazy. She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut...
