Thinking about trying this out. Anyone of you try this or any other VoIP service yet?

I can't vouch for Vonage, but I've been using Comcast's VOIP service for a few months now. So far not a single problem of any kind. Unlimited local and long distance calling for just $40 a month is pretty great too.

I used both Vonage and then Comcast and really have zero qualms with either service. Both services eat up a small amount of bandwidth but nothing that you'll even notice most of the time. At some point I realized that there was zero reason for us to have a home phone and we just kept the cellphones.

Cool, I didn't know they offered it. Might work out better for me that way since I have digital cable and internet through them already.

I've had Vonage for years and have had no complaints about it at all. One of the cool things I enjoy is being able to forward your voicemail to your email account.

Maybe it won't matter, but...

Vonage as a company is going to ****. They were ahead of the other big players in the market like Verizon, Comcast, etc. by a few years, but they blew their lead by spending way more capital on advertising than they could afford, and not enough on improving their network and customer service. Then to top it off, they just lost a $58 million lawsuit to Verizon.

One of my co-workers highly recommendeds SunRocket. Unlimited nationwide calling and no activation fee for $200/year.

Personally, I just use my cell phone, though.

Well, I've had Vonage for over a year now and I have no complaints. But Nexa's link is making me wonder. Comcast doesn't offer the phone service in our area yet, and I don't want to go back to a traditional phone line, because it's just too expensive. And we can't use our cell phones here, there are no towers anywhere near us and there's no coverage.

Bah.

Don't go with Vonage. Such crappy service and if you need technical support you'd better have 5+ hours to wait and a friend fluent in gibberish to translate for you.

vonage just lost a lawsuit alleging they stole the technology they use from another company. they have been issued a cease and desist order pending a resolution ie settelment.

wouldnt switch just yet.........
