and when more people have actually watched it, then the spoilers will commence.

I actually liked this a lot. I'm intrigued by the positions that the 4 cyclons hold within the fleet.

On another forum that I read it appears that everyone else completely hated it.

Also, I have never heard that song before in my life, but I'm guessing from the discussions that it is something a lot of people recognize.

My guess is that they're not really a part of anything the Cylons have planned, since the Final Five are something of a verboten topic among the known seven Cylons, and since {the eldest of the four who shall remain nameless to avoid spoiling those who haven't seen it} has been around for so long, since around the time of the first Cylon war.

"All Along The Watchtower", arguably the best Hendrix song ever.

Either that or this is going to be one of those Matrixesque "You have to die before you become the one" type of deals.

Starbuck = Jesus, perhaps?

Not a bad Dylan song, either, although nobody would argue it's the best he ever wrote. I don't watch this show, never have, but how the hell can you not know this song? Unacceptable.

SPOILERS DO NOT CONTINUE UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I will repeat what I said in IRC:

BSG OMG 2008 WTH NOOOOO!

now to be articulate about it:
Okay so, we have Tigh, Tyrol, Anders, and Tory who are all supposedly positive they are cylons with the fifth left up in the air. From the storyline it seems we're led to believe that it is Kara. Yet, in this episode we have Roslin now sharing dreams with Rebel Six, Sharon, and Hera all of which, lets note, are in some way cylon so maybe Roslin is the last of the final five?

What follows is conjecture.

Still, if we're to believe Tigh's a cylon then human models apparently have been around for at least 30 years (since Adama's known him). If that's true, and maybe the final five are in fact the first original models - maybe the 13th colony contained the final five or maybe the legends stem from the final five breaking away from the others and in fact ARE the 13th colony (apparently the 13th colony had some kind of bio weapon that works on cylons and so understand them to some extent *episode with infected space probe*)

Further, if Kara made it to Earth, the idea that Earth either has cylons on it or at least has some kind of resurrection "ship" or ability within range of where her ship exploded becomes more probable (I mean how DID she surivive).

Right now I'm inclined to believe that the last of the final five must include Roslin in some way but that Kara definitely has a cylon connection as well.

Further, we still haven't received an explanation as to how Baltar is in Rebel Six's head and vice versa. Yet another lose end.

Ron Moore has even said he'll make everyone "Question what it means to be a Cylon" which opens even more VERY interesting possibilities. Is it possible that human cylons and standard humans (for lack of a better term) aren't that different / have reached a point where they are indistinguishable from each other? In which case, what does it mean to be a cylon? They use their "projection" ability which connects them and allows for extra perception (per se) but baltar does something very much like it and the music the final five hear on the ship as well as the dreams Roslin and the cylon defectors have all seem to point to this ability. So then can any human develop this (cylon or standard)?

Lets hope this stays amazing and doesn't go the way of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Less conjecture, more facts to follow.

Finally, NBC had only signed on for the back half of the next season due to, unfortunately horrible rating and DVD sales so they were going to release a two hour mini-series which was rumored to originally be for a Pegasus storyline to sedate the fans during the long break. Although, due to the drop in ratings there was a lot of talk about the show getting canceled all together and the mini-series being used to tie up the story (an impossible task for 2 hours at this point). Personally, I'm a strong supporter of this series and I would be extremely disappointed to see it die although, with the way that all "big" and prime time t.v. has gone over the last decade (where only the insanely high ratings matter) I wouldn't be surprised. Luckily though, we wont have to worry about that since as of Thursday it's been announced that we have another 22 episodes to look forward to in 2008!

Anyway, as of late Nielsen Ratings have apparently dropped to 0.9% for a grand total of about 991,800 households in attendance. Unfortunately that number is probably far from true with the amount of people who torrent or view this show on the Scifi website (netting over a million downloads last sunday at www.eztvefnet.org).

So lets hope that this episode brings in more loyal viewers then it pushes away and that 2008 is awesome, eh?! I can't wait!

I had a different perspective on Kara. To me the finale basically confirmed that she is a final five.

For one, her mother raised her in a specific manner with some odd knowledge that she is "special". She has no dad we've ever heard of. She paints the Eye of Jupiter from the time that she is a child.

My thinking is that the Starbuck we know did die. Her "special destiny" is to be the first of the final five to download back to Earth. They'd been making jumps to get closer to Earth and from the galaxy views at the end of the show, they are in a relatively close proximity from Earth. The music has started to appear because they're getting closer to Earth (which by the way, I fully recognized as soon as we played the Hendrix version, play it yourself and I almost guarantee you'll know it).

Of course, I have no idea how it will all work out, but I think somehow the final five are revered back on Earth and "we" are all sitting around waiting for them to wake up. Kara being the first goes back out to find the fleet and the cylons, both of which are the peoples of the final five cylons and the people of Earth. Eventually they'll arrive on Earth to find that there is a complete opposite view on cylons and will need to adjust. But by then the series will have lost it's fire and will end in a nice comfy place leaving it open for another "repeat cycle" to begin again.

What I want to know is how they knew they were Cylons. They seemed to have figured it out somehow along the way to that room. Was it something I missed? Loved Tigh's "whoa".

I think Starbuck is the final fifth member. Although Roslin had the dream I think it is because of the cylon blood in her. Also if chief is a cylon, then Nikki is also a half breed.

You don't know the Voodoo Child?

I don't follow BSG but it seems that song might fit as well.

The thing is I really do agree that she is cylon. It's the only way she could have gotten to Earth without getting ultra corny. At the same time there are some things to look at: just before the fleet lost power Roslin knew it was going to happen (or so we presume from her "headache" just before). Also, Kara jumped in at the same exact time as that cylon fleet, and unless they lost power too they're unlike most we've run into. I mean usually they immediately start firing huge barrages but did you see or hear a single rocket/bullet/etc?

So then you have to wonder whether this cylon "fleet" is from Earth, I mean Vipers don't have FTL drives.

Is this a new fleet? Maybe the next season is going to consist of Galactica and the "human" fleet teaming up with this cylon fleet and Kara to make it to Earth in some way!

Tyrol gave us the tip off on that saying "after all this time a switch just goes off like that!?" (or something very close to that effect) so I think it was very much like how Boomer just suddenly shot Adama except instead of activating some dormant reason to sabotage they just now know what they are. It is very interesting how the producers made sure we noted Tigh's and Tory's positions as the "right hand [people]" to the two most important (rank wise) people in the fleet. The Chief also is an obvious strategic position but what about Anders?

Well, he was the leader of the resistance and I would imagine he would have some influence over a lot of the civilians. He has pretty much been the leader whenever civilians are involved in fighting the cylons.

In case there was any doubt, the 4 are definitely cylons.

Unless he is just lying in the interview I guess.

Considering the claims to the effect of "yes, Starbuck is really dead" that have issued forth from that quarter since "Maelstrom" aired, while he's probably not actually LYING, he's almost certainly playing fast and loose with his wording. I'd take anything he says in an interview with a large grain of salt.

With him saying that then, that again confirms to me that she is final five. She did die.

Anyone else notice how the first name to pop up in the credits was Katie Sackhoff as Starbuck?? Hehe. There was all that talk about how Starbuck's name doesn't show up in anymore credits for Season 3 and yet there it was at the end instead of the beginning. I guess it was all about the surprise, which I liked. Still, you could tell it was her as soon as she showed up on dradis (sp??).

I found it interesting that most of the cylons seem attracted to other cylons.

Starbuck & Anders
Anders & Tori
Chief & Boomer

I really like how Chief and Tigh seemed to have an acceptance about them. I was kinda scared that Tigh was going to get drastically depressed or suicidal, but his little rant was great.

Despite what other boards may think, I actually really liked the finale. I watched it again and am excited for S4.

Just another show that sold out the intelligence of it's fan base in favor of cheap stupid story contrivances that defy logic or story integrity, but offer meaningless 1 second 'shock' value.

Oh well, it lasted longer than most shows do before resorting to this stupidity. See also: Lost.

Yeah. Tigh took the news remarkably well. The scene was well done IMO. Lots of ways they could have handled that. I liked that "strong Tigh" came out this time rather then "drunk Tigh". It made for a more powerful impact IMO. I also noticed the attention they gave to both Tigh and Tori being the right hands of the two leaders of the fleet. Very interesting...

I'm still sticking to my "genetic templates" theory at this point. If that's correct, then it's not that they are cylons so much that so far the only templates they've seen have all been cylons. Presumably, since the final 5 aren't known to the cylons, they'd have no control over them. It also works with what the director said about changing people's perspective as to what a cylon is.

Kinda bummed that we have to wait until next freaking year to find out what happens next!
