Busch Gardens. Have you seen the new coaster they've got?

Nice. Shame we can't ride it before May 25th. Either way, I'd rather be at the park, with my daughter, we always have so much fun. Sad thing is, I can't blow of work and go, and even then I'm broke for a couple more months paying off some debts, and fixing my Roadster.

Sounds like a Sheikra knockoff.

Just went to Busch Gardens Tampa, and it's an excellent coaster.

Hmm...well, they were designed by the same company, for the AB, so it would make sense, except the one here doesn't have the tunnel, and is taller, thus making it the tallest diver coaster in the world now. Whoot, go us?

I don't care if your coaster is better, mine is just fine. Smiley: tongue

Next to the vertical drop, my favorite part on Sheikra is the end. The coaster train goes through a pool of water that acts sort of as a breaking mechanism. Nobody on the coaster gets wet, but it shoots water very high into the air and on to the sidewalk on either side of it. Despite the signs that say "Warning - splash zone!" some people get close to the edge, and run frantically back once they realize a giant wall of water is heading for them. They are highly amusing.

Also, nobody can seem to pronounce Sheikra correctly. I've heard everything from Shake-ra to Shakira.

I've always adored the Superman. I could ride that coaster all day.

Yeah, the one here will have the water brake as well. From what I've heard the initial sensation is rather stiff, but is more comfortable than traditional roller coaster brakes.

Superman sucks. The Hulk FTW.

got to agree on the hulk. Best coaster I've been on so far. Dueling Dragons was pretty damn fun too, if only for the fact you think you're about to hit the other coaster coming right at you multiple times.

I have not been able to ride the Dueling Dragons yet, but when I saw it on t.v. a few years ago, I was hyped, and am still hyped to get down there to see it.

You only get that sensation in the front row, though. On inverted coasters if you're not in the front you don't see much at all.

The Hulk is my favorite, although I have not been on any coasters outside of Florida.

I'm not much of a rollercoaster (or theme park) fan anymore, but back in the day my family went to Geagua Lake and Cedar Point, both in Ohio, which had some excellent coasters. Some old (and new, old-style) wooden ones. The Gemini was always a blast; twin tracks with two sets of cars running at the same time. Being a twin myself that was always significant. You could reach out and touch the other riders as the cars passed close - though that runs the risk of dismemberment.

Upon further review it looks like the Timberwolf, one of my favorite wooden coasters that opened up when I was about 12, is not at Geauga.

*sigh*

Cedar Point is the one thing I miss about not living in Michigan anymore. Just a few hours drive and we could be there, even from the far west side of the state.

While I was in high school, the Magnum opened. At the time, it was the tallest, fastest, etc, etc, roller coaster in the world. My Chamber Singers choral group went there that spring and it was amazing. It was me, two other students, and our choir director on the last two seats on the shuttle. As we left the terminal, we began singing "one hundred bottles of beer on the wall, one hundred bottles of beer..." and sang all the way up the first hill. As we started slowing down to pull back into the terminal, our choir director picks up with, "thirty-seven bottles of beer on the wall..." which we continued until we were parked on the terminal, accompanied by a chorus of, "no way! You didn't!" from the crowd waiting in line.

*sigh* Good times.
