That's very likely true; and ironically we (all of us) tend to abuse the relationships closest to us.

"Treat your family like company and your company like family," my grandmother used to say. Turns out the old biddy was on to something.

This thread I think has become relevant to the discussion :p

If you scroll down there's a very good article on the monkeysphere. I highly recommend it to anyone.

That article starts out by attributing a Josef Stalin quote to ChUck NOrris.

Smiley: dubious

Edit: articles are small, but important!

Oh the article is rife with tomfoolery. The author presents it in such a way that he comes off as an ignorant ******* but he actually has a good point and I suspect that it is mostly an intentional ploy to demonstrate his point... that he can talk out of his *** to you, the reader, because he doesn't know you.

You see this sort of thing on the internet, but certainly not in THIS forum.

At any rate: everything he says is pretty well known in sociological circles (but who listens to those guys, right?).

Yeah but he has such a colorful way of presenting it :d

Plus many sociologists tend to focus on the theory itself and don't really address ways that you can personally overcome the phenomenon. Not that this guy goes into any great depth about it, but I think the article itself guides the reader through enough of the thought process that they can gain the necessary insight to figure out wtf is wrong with them.
