I'm not watching YouTube at work but I'll admit to a major loss of geek/nerd cred right now.
I've never seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies and only ever read The Hobbit in 6th grade. All of my Tolkien knowledge is gleaned from other geeks & nerds talking about it.

I was a fan of MERP, which combined the geek factors of Lord of the Rings and cumbersome table-top roleplaying. Plus, I've jerked off to an encyclopedia before.

Also it slightly bothers me when people say 'dash' when they mean 'hyphen' but I mostly got over that a long time ago.

I went to my first sf Con in '75 and war game convention in '76. Play Red box, 1st, 2nd and 3 ed rule DnD. I even still have the hand written character sheet of my 1st mage, rolled in 76. Jonwin has me beat though as that war gaming convention was his and a friend's idea, so while I was fighting off gamers in the dealer's room (Dealer's room was in the Glass Pavilion, but only a ivy league nerd would know where it is.)
