Or to be more precise, between two opposite factions within the same state.

Sunni Vs Shia a civil war? Maybe, but complicated by the presence of foreign forces.

Very similar to Northern Ireland was until a few years ago. Academic whether you call it a civil war or not - it's still a dog that was dormant until we freedom loving western democracies kicked said snoozing pooch in the love spuds.
