This is aimed at Meat Eaters - Veggies can go off to knit their own wholemeal yoghurt or ferment their organic sandals.

Are there any meats that fall into the category of 'icky' that you like?

Octopus? (If quickly cooked in a good sauce - sensational)
Snails? (Only with plenty of parsley and garlic with a little lemon juice)
Horse? (Not a fan - OK but the texture and flavoUr are no match for steak)
Frog's Legs? - Can't be ***** picking at 'em - Gimme a butterflied chicken breast
Worms? - Cleaned and fried until crispy - Were nice enough but I'd rather have regular noodles.
Snake? - See Frog's Legs above

Anyone drool or shudder at these or other 'different' foods?

Anything that swims or lives underground, I'm not eatting. Gives me the willies.

Oh and I've never tried Horse. Can't say I'm to interested in it either but I'm not sure it's legal to slaughter for human consumption in the States.

Octopus - I like it as well, but I prefer it as sushi or sashimi.
Alligator - Don't know if it qualifies as "icky", tastes like gamey chicken, but tougher like steak.
Rattlesnake - Agreed that the bones are annoying.
Eel - Not particularly fond of, but I've had it on occasion.
Crickets - Remove the legs and head, use it like tiny meat chunks like sausage on a pizza. The crunch is a little odd, but the flavor is kinda mild.
Grubs - Gross texture, gross flavor. I don't know how people eat these.

I had an octopus soup once which was sections of the tentacles in a broth composed of the mollusc's ink. It was good if you didn't mind staining the interior of your mouth (and anything else the broth touched). I also has octopi sushi which was... interesting.

Has snails and thought they tasted like garlic-butter flavored rubber. I've since had others opine that I just had poorly cooked snails.

Frog legs taste like chicken.

Never has horse, snake or worms. Most of my "exotic" eating has been pretty tame, i.e. ostrich and the like.

Octopus and Squid? - Too rubbery for my liking
Snails? - Mmmm Escargot. I'll even make this at home it's so good.
Horse? - No idea
Frog's Legs? - Good
Worms? - Fine in cookies
Snake? - Nope

I have had the following though:

Alligator - MMM
Emu - tastes like chicken
Deer - My favourite Smiley: inlove
Moose - Gamey version of Deer
Bear - Gamey, but good.
Turtle - Snapping turtle soup!
Oysters - fabulous raw
Clams - Good steamed
Muscles - good steamed
Shrimp - Smiley: inlove
Lobster - Smiley: inloveSmiley: inlove
Liver - good with onions
heart - nothing special
tongue - Did not really like the flavour
Dog - No different than beef
Duck - good ground or sliced
Goose - very good
crickets - crunchy, no flavour
Pheasant - quite good, little meat though
Grouse - see pheasant

There's probably more that I've had, but I just can't be ***** to think that hard.

I wouldn't refuse it if someone served it/them, but I'd never intentionally order any of the above.

You forgot various other aquatic foods.

Sea Urchin Roe - Awesome.
Squid - Can be great, usually ends up overcooked and mediocre.
Skate Wing - Like a giant scallop.
Dolphin Eyes - Fantastic.

Only the tail of the alligator. The rest isn't all that good.

I think octopus/squid is delicious. In Hong Kong, they have little "corner restaurants" if you will on the street corners that barbecue up squid, fish, chicken, and an assortment of kabobs and they were really good surprisingly enough. The hardest part about little squids is you're sticking something in your mouth with 8 legs. If you can get past that, the texture and taste is uncannily similar to clams.

Kangaroo meat has the texture of elk meat, but doesn't have the heavy gamey taste that elk has.

Escargot is alright, but definately an acquired taste.

Octopus - Delicious. Octopus, calamari, it's all good. Can't wait until they fish out those giant Octopuses so we can have a taste of those.
Snails - With plenty of parsley and garlic with a little lemon juice, lovely.
Horse - I don't like it too much, a bit too hard to chew.
Frog's Legs - They are so nice! Like delicate chicken. Yummy.
Worms - Never tried.
Snake - Not bad.
Crocodile - Very nice.

Thats about it.
