Best part of the episode was the introduction of Romo Lampkin played by Mark Sheppard. He plays Gaius Baltar's new lawyer. Great performance - owned the whole episode. I hope he'll be around for a while.

While I do have sympathy for Sam and Lee for mourning Kara, I thought Sam might as well just put on a dress at this point. I used to think he was a bad ***. He's been a complete sopping vag for too many episodes now.

Lampkin strikes me as a cylon. Inhumanly fast object filching ability. Totally manipulative.

The show seems kind of sluggish without Starbuck. Hopefully they'll find a way to rekindle the spark.

Er, never mind if you are just joking, but I think the cat just didn't want to go for a ride and hopped out, trying to avoid all the people trying to catch him. It was by happenstance that the chief found the bomb, not the cat locating the bomb.

Even though Starbuck is an awesome character, I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up being one of the final five (and thus making a return). Lampkin definitely has that vibe but I would hope things like that wouldn't be so obvious.

It would be nice if a real manipulative cold person like that could just be human.

Even the cylons, albeit pretty evil in some of the ways they've handled situations, still seem ambiguous to an extent. They are still young in a way. There inception wasn't all that long ago, relatively speaking (although since they're computers I suppose they would "mature" much faster).

To me the cylons really mean it when they say they want to coexist with the humans but they are still ill equipped in human reasoning and emotion and so handle all these situations in a very in humane, cold, logical way.

It will be interesting to see what comes of Hera especially since we're (supposedly) so near to finding earth.

++++++++++++

As it pertains to this episode in particular, I enjoyed seeing Michael Trucco (Anders) manage to play with the emotional gamut more. In comparison to the others his acting isn't as great but he has physical advantages that make it easier to ignore.

Ive always loved the interaction between Bill Adama and and Lee and this episode definitely highlights some great scenes with the two of them!

Even in this episode Starbuck still played a pretty influential character even without any actual screen presence and it made for a welcome change in pace from the anger that they've been working with over the last couple of episodes.

The underlying story lines with romantic tensions between all the obvious players, and the dimensions in the Baltar/six story line were also all well written in my opinion making for an admittedly slower but much deeper episode.

Either way the next one's most likely going to leave us with a giant cliff hanger and that, I am not looking forward to.

From a woman's perspective, I found him hotter than ever with his long hair and drunken grieving. I found some pictures of him and was ready to start licking my monitor. This one in particular was pretty cool:

I liked it, but I have to admit a lot of the stuff in the middle was completely lost on me. It was very hard to actually hear what Romo was saying and though I understand the ending and what he's about, like I said, I was very confused in the middle.

I am very unhappy that we've reached the end...

I guess the actress who plays Starbuck has a contract through season five. Not that this is definitive proof she will return or anything but I find it a hopeful sign.

I was joking. But, my point is that the writers really got lazy with that one. They couldn't come up with any other way for the chief to happen upon the bomb, so they introduced that cat into the episode. I don't know, it just seemed really lame to me.

I'm certain I'm overanalyzing this, but what if the guy is a cylon, knew (or intuits) a bomb was planted - indeed wanted the bombs planted to stir up sympathy for Baltar - in particular to get Lee on his side. He lets the cat out of the bag knowing it will be an excuse to search under the craft.

One word:

Cheesy

An idiotic, cliched, asinine stunt like this would basically be a big ol' can of cheese-whiz sprayed all over the screen. It would be the "I want to be subtle, but I'm too braindead to pull off anything more than obvious and contrived" solution. It's "Bobby Ewing in the shower" all over again.

In short, only an idiot would consider it "clever."

But then, consider the source of the speculation...

Why or why couldn't they have killed him off instead? The damn series is turning into a touchy feely crybabies in space. I wont be suprised if next week Emopollo starts cutting himself for attention.

they cant kill off starbuck. i dont know why you cant see that.

the starbuck character IS battle star galactica. the entire series has been wrapped around the super daring, carefree shoot first, think later hero/heroin dragged into a war as the undergod pull it out of your **** savior. starbuck was the main character from the first series, and even with the soap opera crap going on now, and the little side shows like baltar, odama, lee and a few others, starbuck IS, well, the STAR. the center of the entire series.

always has been, always will be.

no starbuck, no BSG. that simple.

not dead. will be back. would bet big bucks on something so obvious as this.

just more proof the masses will swollow whatever they are handed without glancing side ways. blind. just like you fools that swollowed the replublican package.

no starbuck, no BSG. it would be like taking luke skywalker out of the last three SW movies. hello, mcfly, anyone home?

clever? no, i dont thnk its clever. i think it is so obvious it is almost lame. why do you think they went through 2 episoded convincing you she was having a breakdown? to sell you down the river. just like any soap opera would.

rofl. cant wait till the ball is droped. hope i can still find this thread when it does.

I'm sorry but this is patently untrue. Oh I think Starbuck will be back alright but you seem to have missed the fact that the writers have made a huge effort to give the other characters backstories and episodes of their own. I really would hate to see Starbuck disappear however, I think the other characters in this series are strong enough and interesting enough to merit watching without Starbuck.

Borrrrring. That character careened downhill as soon as she stopped smoking.

The most ironic thing about BSG is that the cylons seem more emotional and fixated with religion then the humans (on the whole): in short, they seem more "human" and the humans like Adama seem more like machines.

Except Starbuck and Baltar (particularly in the scenes with Caprica six). In what is perhaps an ill conceived attempt to force the show in a new direction, the writers seem to be eliminating what works. Good move if they can come up with something new. Lampkin is interesting, but BSG is not a legal drama, at heart.
