They are closing a ******** of stores right now, everything in there at at least 10 percent off. Most of the cases and stuff are at 30% off, same with the larger items. I was just in the portland one and grabbed a bunch of stuff, including a completely pointless USB beverage cooler. They also are getting rid of all their software, including office and vista, so if there is one in your area, might be worth a look

Yeah, the one in my mall is closing down so we all take turns running up there to stock up on cheap crap. Personally I'm waiting till the discounts reach 30% or more on most stuff.

Additionally, when I went up in my work uniform the other day, the poor shlebs at the service desk were like "When are you opening your store? Can you get us jobs there??" I had to tell them that, sadly, I couldn't help them with new employment, but I enjoyed tormenting them with the notion that we may be taking over their store. Smiley: sly

compuse here where i live is closing too. they are selling the fixtures, racks everything. the merchandise, however, is only 20 percent off. while that may sound like a bargain, you can usually do better than that at tiger direct, or online, which is probably why they are going belly up. see no point in rushing down there yet.

firt computer city, now comp usa.

consoles are putting a major dent in computer sales.

More like online buying is hurting brick+mortar stores a lot.

Bummer. The one near me closed ages ago now but I liked their stores. Larger selection than Best Buy.

In the past, you had to have a real reason to mail order. In the future, you're likely going to have a real reason to walk over to the store.

None closing here either, but I notice we have a training center here. I wonder how long THAT is going to be open, haha.

Heh... ATA used to have an entire concourse at Midway Airport to themselves in 1995 and had bought one of the overflow parking lots and were building a training center. Now they're down to having a single gate at Midway. I wonder whatever happened to the training center.

It is a shame many CompUSA are going out of business. That store popped my big box computer parts cheery 15 years ago. Their selection makes Best Buy laughable. Best Buy has swiirved away from the PC consumers (except for built systems).... most of their hardware is now gone. I went to best buy last week to browse for some hardware (money was burning hole in my pocket) and all they had anymore were a few routers, a few hard drives, about 4 diff types of video cards, 2 sound cards and a few speakers. Their ram selection is laughable, they have nothing for hardcore pc users what so ever. Comp USA at a muuuuch larger selection

Honestly.. oh well. Micro Center is still my #1 physical PC shop.

The one in my area closed awhile ago. I was able to get a 512MB Radeon 1900XTX for $300 back when they cost one helluva lot more. However, with most of these sales, the cost of stuff is reduced to about the price of what it costs on newegg. :p
