Internet radio stations are warning they could be forced off the air by a big increase in the royalties they pay to play music.

The warning comes after a decision by a US copyright body to increase royalty payments for music via the net.

Let me see if I understand the logic here. Charge legal entities crippling fees to drive them out of the market, leaving it occupied by illegal entities you can't possibly police or enforce your copyrights on or ever recover any monies from.

Genius.

You obviously know just scads about professional writing.

You're a big fUcking idiot.

Commercial webcasters in the US now face the prospect of paying more than twice as much for every track they play.

More than twice as much sounds like a big increase to me. Even if it is being used vaguely that was for the title/intro. Which is basically a summary to draw the reader in, dumbass. The details are in the article.
#5tombiggy, Posted: Mar 08 2007 at 2:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok so that increase is big? Well my monitor is big also, does that mean the increase and my monitor are the same size? The statue of liberty is big, is the statue and my monitor the same size? Nope. Big is a useless word. Whoever wrote that article, is an amature.

The accent clash alone will be worth it.

What would it take for you to read Estragon and him to Read Vladimir from the first act of 'Waiting for Godot' onto tape for me?

If they payed 10 cets per song before and now they pay, say, 20 cents is that a big increase? A reader cannot identify with the word big because it means something different to everyone, therefore its a waste of writing.

Thought about that one. As it turns out it's an acceptable, if uncommon, spelling.

Payola. Shhhhh.

Who gave anyone the right to send signals of any content whatsoever through my space? Send your checks chicks to MonxDoT@PWN.net

In a free market, it's free, and not just because you can't use violence to prohibit someone from copying whatever they want to copy with their own personal property. They'll pay you to listen to them. The amount of content competing against the amount of content results in not enough time to be heard. Those musicians need to get back to banging their bucket drums on street corners for spare change.

The ride is over. Or find yourself a Patron(s), and get paid in advance, up front. If Patrons were good enough for Mozart and Da Vinci, they're good enough for you. Get sponsors. Sell product placements. Seven days of the week, seven different Chevys. When it costs $10k+ (I wonder if it's even closer to $100k for every dollar collected) for every dollar you collect from suing the "pirates" you're facing a war of complete and utter pwnage that will bankrupt you, fast.

Mommy mommy, government daddy! He's monkey see monkey do imitating me! :(

And to think, my internet radio station will be completely immune to this kind of thing when I start it.

Also, MOnxdot scares me.

Actually I think I'm beginning to figure out the Monxbot's algorithm...

On roughly 30% of the posts it pulls from a random list of words but frequency is set higher on some like so:

Violence - 95%
Rape - 98%
Patents - 70%
PWN U - 80%
Nazified - 45%
Freedom - 60%
Sex - 75%

A further 10% of the posts are insult posts pulled from a random insult generator* with extra added (addled?) profanity. These seem to spawn from certain trigger points - words, or posters. Likelihood of triggering one of these breaks down as follows (I'm still narrowing this section down):

Nexa - 100%
Gramma - 80%
Freedom - 70%
Rape - 1%

The remainder of the posts seem to just come from any number of garden variety spam generators.

See, it's not so scary when you know it came from the mind of one of the Admins... Course it does make said admin scarier, but life's about trade-offs.

* as far as insult generators go I prefer this one.

there is a big difference between writting professionally for money and writing casually for entertainment. Im not going to edit and revise my posts like I would if I were going to be paid for my work. Writing like I wrote casually is acceptable, writing professionally using words like "big" and "things" and it" is unacceptable.
