Isn't SR the one who claims all the fun in a game is always under 20? I seem to recall him always bragging about how fun a game is. That is until he hits a certain lvl (always under 20). Then he turns around and says WoW is too easy blah blah blah. I find that funny.
---------------------------------------------------------------
the best part of any new game IS the first 20 levels. the time when every one is new. when every quests the same quests and getting help is redily available. when every one does the same dungons and getting a group is no harder than tagging yourself LFG.
always under 20? level 60 necro in EQ1, level 35 pali in EQ2, level 51 warlock in WoW, even now a level 22 necro in VG. my AO toon was 40 when i quit. 25 for my ship in E&B.
and i have never said once WoW is too easy. ever. just time friendly.
you recall poorly.
in all of them, except maby WoW, AO too for that matter, there is a point that seperates casual gamers from no-lifers. in EQ1, it was the released of kunark. in EQ2 it was the point you leave the city and start to realize you group ir you grind at doing something close to nothing. about 20 in that game.
in vanguard, that level is 15.
the point where you group or you grind. the point players start cancelling their accounts on flocks. the point EQ2 and SWG felt their **** pucker up and started scrambling to stop the bleeding by making more casual gamer content.
WoW has over 8 million accounts, not because it is a superrior game than any of the others, but solely because the game is time friendly. and there are ten fold the number of people looking for time friendly entertainment than there are no-lifers looking for......a life......
have seen it in every game i have played. i see the future of vanguard too. right now, its not an issue because EVERYONE is in their first 20 levels, so getting help is easy and getting a group is fairly painless. when that bubble of no-lifers hits the 40,s or higher though, and the flood of ne players starts to slow to a tricke, their **** is going to pucker just like EQ2 and SWG did, which i might point out are all sponsered by the same company.
so it wouldnt be a streach to expect the same knee jerk reaction to vanguard when their numbers startgoing backwards in about somwwhere between the 4th adn 6th month of their launch. just around the corner.
and just like EQ2 and SWG, its not because it is a bad game, it is solely because their are 10 fold the number of people looking for time friendly entertainment than their are no-lifers who sit at a computer for 4 to 6 to more hours at a time.
and blizzard gave them a choice.
why gaming companies choose to ignore this friggin huge market is mind boggeling. i guess the only people who are willing to write a game are no-lifers who want what is perfect for them. which would explain whathappened to EQ1, EQ2, SWG, DAOC, ShadowBane, Earth & Beyond, EVE online, Sims online.....the list goes on and on.
only blizzard reined in their no-lifers and produced something the OTHER 90 percent of gamers wanted.
but, right now, having a blast in VG. the first 20 levels in a new game are always the best. i can see the writting on the wall, but untill it slaps me in the face, ill keep having fun. when i start begging for a group more than fighting in one.....ill leave .....just like the other masses of casual gamers having a blast right now. hell, i have paid 50 bucks before for FPS games i blew through in a couple weeks. even if i only got 20 levels, any online game would be worth the price/. well, not AC2, it REALLY sucked.
