Anyways, this time I'll spare y'all the annoyance of having to put up with me for another weekend.

You're thin and wiry, I'm fairly certain I could pack you in suitcase, if the airfare's the problem.

Yeah, because sleeping on sh*tty commercial carpeting in a room with two women in comfy beds sounds like a blast. And IIRC, didn't you have to share that floor with Deb one night? I'd rather drink with him sitting in a chair and have his arm slung over me, drooling on my neck, and whispering sweet nothings into my ear.

I thought Deb stayed in your room one night? Maybe you don't remember what happened after the sweet nothings and drinking.

Oh, and Kelvy was the other one in our room...he and Smash took turns with the comfy cot, haha.

I did stay in his room one night, but there was little sleep to be had (for me, at least) what with all the slinging and drooling. The previous night DSD refused to let me into the hotel room, and it was only 2am! Smiley: motz

I wouldn't mind attending, but it's too far away for me to consider right now.

A preliminary search reveals that round-trip airfare would run me two hundred eighty-four dollars, intriguing. I wonder, though, would there be a day where a group of us sit in a series of ever-seedier bars and get totally wasted? Because that's basically the only interaction I have with strangers I know only from the interweb. Well, other than random sexual encounters, of course.

In reality, I'll probably have to wait for Allawherever '09, because I have a trip back to Colorado tentatively planned for July for the purpose of surprising mother on her birthday, and June of '08 I'm headed for two weeks in Hawaii. Besides, a couple more years will allow you to get to know me better first, anyway.

Knowing you better could only result in two things. A cult or a restraining order.

Apparently it is early for youse folks. Boston bars start closing down at midnight; my friend and I had to go halfway across town (so it seemed) to find a handful of places still open by 1 or 2am. At that point we were only like 2 blocks away from the hotel, but when I called you I thought I'd mistakenly dialled Medusa's private line in Hades. So we ended up going back up to Bunker hill where I crashed on his apartment floor.

Here, in New York, most people don't *start* getting kicked out till about four. And this is upstate, mind you.

Indeed. You can usually tell you're in one when one of two things happens. You find yourself paying $12 for a beer or a large hairy bearded man starts fellating you.

So that's why you like them eh? Or do you just bring the women folk there for the lack of competition?

IMHO, it's way too early to decide on a hotel.

Being a hotelier and seeing as you're planning on this trip in the peak season, I can honestly say it's never too early to make hotel arrangements. Sure, you can get a room at short notice, but the longer you wait, the more likely you get stuck with room types you don't want, staying at a hotel you don't want to, paying more than you wanted to. Hotels work on the same guidelines as Airlines. Supply and demand, as their inventory decreases, the price will increase. If you guys have a hotel in mind, make reervations now. As long as they don't have a cancellation fee (most won't if cancelled 24+ hours prior to reservation), it only makes sense to do so.

As well, not sure how many people you have going, but if you have more than 10 rooms/night, odds are you could actually negotiate a group rate with the hotels.

I really think we should have waited until everyone was ready and reserved a block of rooms, but hey, no one asked me. Besides, you peeps will want to be on the other end of the hotel from where I am... I scream loudly. Smiley: sly

Good luck with that, we're a flakey group. I'm not waiting for other people so that I can pay more, haha.

I looked into the block option a while back, and we don't have enough folks to qualify for a discounted rate.

If I remember correctly, it was about 20? I remember thinking "No way".

Edit: Block rates are mostly for conventions and such. I don't think that 10 would justify a reduction, unless it's a small hotel or in the burbs.

Yeah, I figured it was like 10 rooms, which we could probably do if everyone stayed in the same place, but 20 is rather unlikely.

If you shop around, assuming you're not hell bent on one specific hotel, you should find one that will take 10 rooms as a block and discount. You guys staying 1,2,3 nights? That'll make a difference in negotiatiing as well. 2 nights means 20 room nights to a hotel, so they'll likely bend their rules for that.
