So far everything I'm reading looks really great. I realize he's second tier but looks like so far he's the first democrat I'd vote for.

Opinions?

No shot. Hoping for a better look for VP from a real candidate.

I'm a jaded calculating *******, so I plan to vote for the most seemingly viable white man who looks like he might be able to carry a few southern states. At this point that seems to be John Edwards.

I'm voting for Ralph Nader, I don't care if he's even running.

Smiley: lol Did Edwards even carry his home state in '04, much less any other southern state?

As a VP candidate?? How many states did Cheney 'carry' in '00 or '04.

Christ, could you people be any stupider? Oh wait, I forgot, you can. Never mind.

Ouch. You're probably right, but still, ouch.

I still shudder when I remember his debate against Cheney, it would have been more endearing if he had just said 'shucks' when presented with a question.

One would think that as a Pres/Vice~Kerry/Edwards combo, the dumbass could at the very least carry his home state. I'm a registered Dem and I recognize that his failure in that is just pathetic.

No, you're just a political novice who can't separate iterations of candidates four years apart. Most people who end up President lost elections prior to doing so and looked silly doing it. I realize that in your lifetime you've probably only been aware of Clinton and Bush running for president, two first time candidates who happened to win, and largely that's the case both times, they happened to, but shockingly there was a political process prior to those two events.

'08 Edwards is a completely different candidate than '04 Edwards.

In what way? His education plan? His stance on the war? From what I've seen it's the same rhetoric he's been pushing for the last 3 years.

I should clarify, I'm disapointed so far in all the Dem candidates.

Packaging and fund raising ability. You know, the only things that matter when one runs for President?

You aren't really under the illusion that anyone has EVER won that office because of their ideas are you? Come on, you're not really this naive, stop fooling about.

4 years ago, no one knew who he was and now he's a household name. That's all that matters.

Oh, right! P.R. and the cash. I totally forgot that the vast majority of Americans are single issue voters with their collective thumbs jammed straight up their asses.

That's just not me, I'll vote for the sinking, burning ship if I like his/hers ideas, on a whole, better.

Only if you live in Florida or Ohio, really. I haven't voted for President in years. Yay!

You sound like a Nader voter. *frown*

We don't have the luxury of voting for people we like or believe in. We have to vote for lesser of two evils, and pick a lesser that might have a shot at winning.

I'd write in Tom Vilsack. It's just not right that the guy can't run for president because his name is too close to *******. Curse America for taking away such potential future presidents as **** Sweat.

I should have said "in the primaries". In '04 I voted for Dean. Even thought I knew he wouldn't get the nod. I ended up voting for Kerry because I wasn't voting for Bush.

I swear to all that's holy, if Hillary gets the Nomination, I'll never vote for her. And not because shes a woman.

Don't worry, she won't. The Dems are too skittish to end up with either a female or black candidate.

But I don't think HRC will win the monination either. People will publically support her because it seems the thing to do but, alone in the booth, they'll have their doubts and pull the lever for someone else.

Or touch the screen as the case may be.

Even if it meant that our votes would be thrown out, my friend and I have been hoping for a run by Jesse Ventura for the past couple of elections.

He's smart, damn smart, so anyone trying to denigrate him for being a pro-wrestler would end up looking like an idiot in a debate.

He was also a Navy SEAL, which nicely fills in for military service.

Really, the only problem that I see for him running in a presidential election, is that he's an atheist (sucks that we won't see an atheist president for a long long time, the way things look in this country). Some of his positions sound almost inflammatory at first, then he explains them and you're just floored because he has excellent reasoning ability (something we could seriously use in the White House).

If he ever does run, my friend and I would probably volunteer for his campaign.
