300.

The film version of Frank Millers classic graphic novel. Which is a fictionalized look at the Battle of Thermopylae where 300 Spartans stood against a Persian Army of a Million or more. Directed by the man who did the Dawn of the Dead remake, from a graphic novel by the same guy (miller) who did Sin City.

Looks like it might actually be good, you know for a men in loin clothes with swords and spears type guy move

I know the guy who plays he lead is one bad mother fUcker in the previews. If the movie is as cool as the sensationalized previews make it look, I'll see it.

I only read a little bit of the FM work that it's based off of, but what I did read was cool.

I am a huge Frank Miller fan. I've been drooling over this film for a year.

Can't wait for Sin City 2 and Sin City 3 (just announced.)

Personally I'm surprised Robert Rodriguez got Frank interested in Hollywood again after his RoboCop mis-adventures.

If you're a fan of Sandman (i.e. Neil Gaiman) he has a few movie based on his works coming soon as well.

Coraline
Beowulf Most exciting!
Stardust

And the Holy Grail of comic movies (please god, don't let them ***** this one up), Watchmen.

I gave up on this ever being made in about '89.

I said the same thing last time this trailer came up but it looks more like an advertisment for a computer game filled with CGI cut-sceens than like a movie.

I feel ya but at least it has a Director attached to it. As long as 300 doesn't flop (and I'm sure it won't), it will get made. Not just Vapor this time.

And you gave up a mear 2 years after the books finished shipping? Man, that's pessimism at it's best right there. X-Men wasn't made until 30 years after it's release.

I gave up when Alan Moore begged Terry Gilliam not to make it. If it gets made it'll suck. Rorschach will end up being the guy from Die Hard and they'll replace 5 of the other characters with a woman played by Jennifer Lopez who is a hooker with a heart of gold.

You know it'll happen.

It seems to be in every scene I have seen so I'm assuming the CGI look is intended much like in Sin City. If that's the case it shouldn't distract. I hope.

Intended for that "This is what the movie would look like if it was one long-*** Total War: Thermopylae demo" look?

Im looking forward to seeing 300, but Stardust is the one I really can't wait to see. Great quick read if you havent read it yet. Coraline was kind of freaky as it was written for kids.

I'm a bit torn about 300.

Gates of Fire was indeed quite amazing, but even that aws a dramatization of a real battle. The movie, on the other hand, looks like FFXII in Greeek times. It's ridiculous. I'm sure I saw a dragon somewhere in that trailer...

Ancient Greece and Sparta are a fascinating historical period. That battle was incredible by all accounts, so dramatise it evern further? Isn't enough that 300 guys fought off hundreds of thousands of ennemies? Do they really need to add more "Supertastic!!" stuff?

It's what pisses me off with these films. They always have to go over the top, even when the basic story is already incredible.

When they make a movie about WWII in 100 years time, you can bet Hitler will have super-powers and the ***** will have helmets that shoot lazors.

Ditto. This movie is going to be as big a build up followed by a huge **** stinking let down as Gladiator.

If you want to see a classic about the spartans, do something crazy like watch Sparticus.

All the trailers I've seen make me think it's yet another CGI willy-waving competition to out-do Jackson's Minas Tirith.

LoTR: "Minas Tirith had 10 Million combatants"

3000: But ours go to 11

Good movie, nothing at all to do with Sparta or Spartans. Spartacus, the actual historical slave guy was Thracian. Also the movie takes place in 80bc or whatever, at which point, Sparta was essentially a theme park with the actors playing the 'Spartans'.

Anyway, still a good movie.

I expect to see it on St Patrick's day, as the theaters will be empty in Boston and I can shout at the screen like a crazy black person without my significant other complaining.
