Who has seen it? What did you think? I watched it with the girl a few days ago and I was not expecting much. I was very impressed with Christian Bale and Michael Caine. Hugh Jackman though I didn't think really fit the role too well. Maybe it's because he wasn't popping claws out of his hands. The whole deal with Tesla was a bit out there for me but that would probably be my only complaint about the movie. Although David Bowie was pretty good as Tesla.

I wanted to see this, but never got around to. Glad to know it was good, I'll be sure to catch it on the movie channels later this year.

I liked it right up until the silly and lame ending.

Ya I just saw it saturday night for the second time. I love all the symbolism that leads up to the twist at the end. beautifully done. the only problem I noticed was how did the Angier know that Borden was under the stage? How did he know not to show himself and thereby frame Borden for murder? Any ideas?

Obviously, there are spoilers here if you haven't seen the movie:

He didn't necessarily know that Borden was there *that* night. He knew he'd show up eventually...that was the whole point...drawing him in to see how the trick was done. That's why he drown himself every night, dozens of times in fact.

The gay cloning thing ruined the otherwise cleverish twins thing. Speaking of Christian Bale, did anyone see "The Machinist"? The movie was fine, but Bale amazingly lost like 70 pounds for the part. It's so dramatic it almost takes away from the movie because you keep saying "did he really lose all that weight?"

Yeah, Bale is a freak when it comes to altering his appearance for his roles but that was just disturbing. He put that Olsen sister in her place. Bale is one of my favorite actors, ever since his starring role in American Psycho, which was pretty horrible having read it first, but he fit the role nonetheless.

I think that Bale is remarkably underrated. I agree though, the entire ending was a bit much. At last as far as Hugh Jackman and the clones was concerned. It was still a great flick despite that. I haven't had a chance to check out the Machinist yet. Worthwhile I take it?

It was worth watching. It's a little David Lynchy, and the ending is a bit trite and you see it coming 100 miles away, but it's worth seeing just to see 120 pound Bale.

I'll have to check it out then even though I'm not a real big fan of David Lynchy type flicks.

The book had a better ending. I wonder why they had to go and change it like that.

I thought it was one of the best movies last year. I do think the book handled the cloning thing better.

I watched the movie before I read the book and I thought the cloning thing was obvious for most of the movie. As soon as the pile of top hats was shown, I had the whole cloning/drowning thing figured out, but the thing with the twins was not obvious at all until near the end when they beat me over the head with it.
