Trying to tell someone about Love is like trying to explain colors to a blind person. If you haven't felt it, felt what it can do to you, what it can bring and take away, then you don't know, and no amount of explanation will make you understand it.

Edit to add answers.
1. Of course.
2. Why would I need to?
3. No. You can narrow the pool by certain rational means, but in the end, it's there or it's not.

Paul jotted down a letter to the church in Corinth in which he wrote:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
You can't argue with stock wedding scripture!

I would say love hurts, love scars, love wounds and marks any heart not tough, or strong enough, to take a lot of pain, yes, take a lot of pain. Love is like a cloud; holds a lot of rain.

Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts.

I'm young, I know, but even so, I know a thing or two. I learned from you. I really learned a lot, really learned a lot. Love is like a flame; it burns you when its hot.

Love hurts, ooh ooh love hurts.

The word love is an umbrella, a catch all if you will. An amalgam of thoughts and feelings that become attributed to a single term that defies definition. Peoples' perception of love will be skewed by social conditioning and personal belief systems, but the one truth that you cannot deny is that anyone worthy of being called human has known love at some point.

Personally, the concept of 'One true love' is far too fatalistic for me to swallow. I've loved many people and plan on loving many more.

What proof do you need? Do you love your family? Your friends? Have you never felt that way inside where you would do absolutely anything for another person simply because your 'heart' says it's right?

What really gets my Smiley: goat is when people seem to believe they were confused about love and that it never really happened. "Well, I thought I was in love but I guess I was wrong." No you weren't, idiot. You were in love but somewhere along the lines **** got f'ucked up. Don't pretend it didn't happen just to rationalize your behavior.

Love is nothing without trust. You can desire and empathize and like someone all you want, but it requires trust to actually love, from my perspective. You trust them to get close to you to not hurt you. You trust them with your secrets and desires, to not exploit you.

Love is a risk that you have to decide to plunge into or not.

Do-do-do-doo-dooo, I know! Tesla rocks my ****, I think I'll sing this for karaoke tomorrow.

So you think that it's over,
Say your love has fin'lly reached the end.
Any time you call, night or day,
I'll be right there for you if you need a friend.
It's gonna take a little time.
Time is sure to mend your broken heart.
Don't you even worry, pretty darlin'.
I know you'll find love again. Yeah.

(Chorus)

Love is all around you.
Love is knockin' outside the door.
Waitin' for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you'll find love again, I know.
Love is all around you.
Love is knockin' outside the door.
Waitin' for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you'll find love again, I know.

(Chorus/Outro)

Love will find a way.
Darlin', love is gonna find a way,
Find its way back to you.
Love will find a way.
So look around, open your eyes.
Love is gonna find a way.
Love is gonna, love is gonna find a way.
Love will find a way.
Love's gonna find a way back to you, yeah,
I know. I know. I know.

Love is a chemical reaction in your brain that pushes you to start and protect your family. It's actually a form of clinical insanity (read that somewhere, I'll try find the link later).

Love is taking a **** in the toilet beside your wife who's taking a bath while getting yelled at for using the "visitor towel" on the towel rack instead of the crappy towels on the back of the door and then being asked what you want for dinner mid yelling.

Love is being able to tell your wife that her shirt looks a little small and having her say "really? Yeah I guess it does doesn't it." instead of freaking out.

Love is picking up tampons for your significant other and not feeling weird about it.

Basically love makes that person more important than anything else without excluding everything else. When you're actually in love with someone you can tell them anything and not worry about them leaving, nothing needs to be hidden. You don't put up fronts to make yourself look better, you don't hide your faults/weaknesses. Most importantly, you don't have to think about it.

Man, you saps are making me sick. I think love is dressing up like a catholic school girl and sucking on a lollipop while he tries to watch a movie.

I did that for a friend once who had an emergency at work and couldn't go herself. She even called me at work and begged me while I laughed my *** off. I didn't love her (well, beyond the I love my friends type love). I still give her **** for it though. It's always good for a free 'shut the fUck up' drink.

3. Hmm, that's a difficult question. Love is chemical and biological and therefore rational in that it fulfills a need human beings often cite in order to be "happy". It is a drive that keeps us moving when we often would not and so productivity is affected.

It's so @#%^ing hot when you're all clinical.

You should see what I do when she dresses up like a catholic schoolgirl and sucks on a lollipop while I'm trying to watch a movie.

Rant about the Catholic Church being a baseless construct and a fraud? 'Cause that's what I imagine you do.

Largely just like what you imagine, but I suspect, stickier.
