Apparently Elderon played too strenuously in the sandbox this afternoon and was too tuckered out to PM me the beta infos he said he would. At least his wife can take solace in the fact that she's not the only one he'll be disappointing this Valentine's Day.

Bump.

Brandywine - Snorre

Sheesh, that was a heck of a patch to download!

ill give it a shot when im done with VG. just having to much fun right now in VG to dump it yet. i could never really get into the cartoonish graphics of WoW, even though the game play fit me perfectly. VG is simply stunning to look at. and so far, it plays just like WoW, very casual friendly. just takes a whole lot longer to level.

mabe next year, or mabe when VG turns into the group only game the boards have blasted it for. still havent seen it though.

No worries - I'm like all of level 2. I thought Eldy had a toon on there as well, but I haven't been on to check lately. I'll create a toon on the other server if that's where everyone will be. Do you think they'll do another character wipe anytime soon? If so, I'm probably going to hold off on working up a toon until Open Beta or the release.

Has it hit Open Beta yet? I've been having too much fun in WoW right now to notice.

Tried to download the client five times yesterday, from various sources and with various methods, and each time I got differing amounts of corrupted files. You'd think that if one or two files are missing then the patcher could just hook a brother up with them when I try and log on, but no, apparently I need to actually successfully install the game first.

I want to start growing pipe-weed, goddammit.

BT if you are still having problems after another try or two, let me know.

Beta is still closed. Open beta doesn't start until March some time. Yes, there will probably be another wipe between now and then. However that will most likely be the last wipe and any characters made after open beta starts and account owners considered "founder" will be able to keep their beta character into retail.

I will attempt to like Meneldor, servers are down until 6pm EST today, however.

I have a pet peeve. I made a human on Brandywine, she's loaded. Has almost a gold at 13. My Elven chicky, barely 20s at the same level. That's some screwed up economy!!!

So with that said, I will make another char on Meneldor and update you with the name later.

Dunno if they still do, but they used to recommend using a download manager. So yeah, they know there's a little problem.

Yeah, I tried it first without any manager, then bit Bitorrent, then without again, then with Bit again, then finally with something they recommend called UTorrent, and each time I got varying degrees of corruption. UTorrent seemed to be the best, as I only had the installer tell me twice that I had corrupt files. That said, after having just checked their board again I see that there is a possibility they will be putting up smaller chunks of the download. Which would be nice, I guess.

And Joph, from everything I've read open beta starts on March thirhieth, unless I just dreamed that.

BT, when I got the first client, it didn't work if I clicked the link for the download. I had to right click it and do a "save link as". For some reason, doing that gave me an entirely different client, and that worked just fine.

Screwy stuff.

Trouble is, I've tried it both ways with poor results. Tried it from the e-mail and from the beta forums, with poor results. There is a post today saying they are seeing about linking smaller downloads for it, but as of yet they aren't available. That would be nice if for nothing more than allowing me to waste less time downloading the whole fUcking thing over and over. I'm getting frustrated, but I will persist. At least there's lots of **** out there to keep me busy while I wait.

I installed one of the managers that they suggested and it was all wonky, so I just dled it without anything and had no problems, probably because I did it at like 4 am EST.

Another corrupted download, this one worse than any of the previous. For my next go at it, I'll be sacrificing a sheep first in order to appease the interwebs. Anyone have any other ideas? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks DF.

I'm about two hours from seeing what's messed up with my most recent attempt, so I'll PM you then. Any requests pertaining to how I pose? Or maybe objects I should pose with? I have sheeps, emus and dogs that I could work in, too.

One positive, this difficulty with the download is great for my postcount.

Added Joph and Raheli - will add Nadenu when possible. Eldy or Darq, has someone started a Fellowship yet? If so, please to hook me up - Snorre the Dwarf Guardian.
