Thanks, and I meant to say 'How long is the life time deal being offered?" :P

I think I'll download it this weekend and decide. But $200 lifetime deal is a sweet deal. That's about a years worth of $15 monthly.

It says in the small print that it is only available within a month of the launch of the game. They also stated it is non transferrable.

Good times.

Speaking of requirements, I will definately say that more RAM and a great vid card will make a huge difference. I upgraded my card back during beta 1 because of the choppiness and crashing. The graphics were fabulous with minimal crashing (except for in towns) with the new card.

Looks like the sys requirements are pretty close to what WoW is. I would assume if you can run WoW you can run LOTRO. Vanguard can kiss my sys requirements' ***.

Maybe it's improved, I'll try to fire it back up again and see...

I have to agree with this. It had a lot of things I liked, particularily the bit where after you use an attack or what not enough times you get a bonus to it. But something was missing overall and it just couldn't hold me.

Same with me, I played a bit and though the world was stunningly beautiful, something was just missing for me. I had planned on playing it until release since it was free, but now I think that doesn't make sense since I bought Vanguard. If I'm going to pay for that one I might as well just play that one.

Thanks. Of course, now it occurs to me that I can't remember what my video card is. I'm such the uber-gamer.

Edit: Radeon 9550 according to an older post of mine

start menu -> run -> type in: dxdiag and hit enter

This will bring up the dx diagnostics. It lists everything from the version of dx to your processor, ram, video card, sound card, os, etc.

The card was the only thing I was unsure about. I think my board actually *is* a Pent. 4 1.8GHz. 1 gig of RAM but I couldn't tell you the actual type.

This is from work, otherwise I'd just check. Just curious, really. I wrote off V:SoH without even worrying about gameplay based solely on the spec reports.

I played in the LOTRO Beta for a while. I still have the account, and despite being a lifelong Tolkien fan, I don't play LOTRO. I think I got a character to level 10, but so many of the low level quests involved too much running back and forth over and over again between two NPC's that I just got completely sick of it very quickly.

Oh, and the halflings look like the Pillsbury Dough boy. Character graphics suck a lot.

I'd forgotten about that part. I did actually have a big problem with their character graphics. I didn't like it at all. Vanguard is only a little better but that's only because imo they're prettier in VG. FFXI still looks more lifelike than both to me.

Apparently Elderon played too strenuously in the sandbox this afternoon and was too tuckered out to PM me the beta infos he said he would. At least his wife can take solace in the fact that she's not the only one he'll be disappointing this Valentine's Day.

Bump.
