I from a long line of readers, who collect books. I met Jonwin at the Science Fiction Society, so there were a fair number of books and not enough bookshelves when I moved in. Most of what I have are still in boxes, that I may peek into looking for one or two. Jonwin is more likely to be willing to give away books to local thrift store, but I only will part with a book, that I hated.
We also collect sign copies of our favorite authors, and the latest Compton Crook Award winner. 3 years ago, I was able to get the signed final copies of 2 manuscripts before the editors made any changes at BSFS annual RIF auction. Syne Mitchell was so impress with the amount of money BSFS collect for a middle school, with large ESOL population, she sent them across county for the auction.
My ex and I had 40 boxes of books last time the navy moved us across country. I think I was able to save about 15 boxes worth. Once someone said you could compined all the books in my sister's, parent's and our collection and fill a good size library with every subject covered.
Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle will be at the next
convention, so dig out your favorites get your requests in now and we'll try to get books sign for you. We even honnor requests from snails.
