Love Triangle: A symbolic conflict in which each of the three parties has a strong emotional attachment to the other parties, thus making resolution of said conflict difficult without severing close emotional bonds.

Example: Arthur and Lancelot love one another as brothers. Arthur is married to Guenevere who loves him in return. Guenevere is also romantically in love with Lancelot who loves her in return. Resolution is not as simple as Arthur killing Lancelot because doing so would hurt him as much as if he killed Guenevere.

Not an Example: Woman A loves some guy. Woman B loves the same guy. Woman A decides to try to kill Woman B. Media repeatedly calls it a "Love Triangle" despite it really being a "Love Right Angle" with no bond between Women A & B beyond both working for the same general organization.

Better.

When I think of a Love Triangle, it usually involves three women situated in such a manner as to create a three-pointed geometric scene of awesomeness.

Pedantry?

Pedantry!!?!?!

You want some?

Do ya punk!?

Lancelot's love for Guinevere was 'courtly love' in medieval terminology as described in 'Le Chanson de Roland' and other contemporary epics. Ridiculed munificently by Cervanes in the 'Quijote', it defines a platonic, albeit consuming, adoration for a woman who is unattainable due to her higher social standing and/or her prior commitment to another.
For a nobleman to find his wife the object of affection of a worthy knight was a badge of pride and honoUr.

And while we're on the subject, as King, Arthur commanded the 'love' of Lancelot du Lac by the very nature of his divine right.

Unless you want to take the Hollywoodized version where Lancelot gets da jiggy with Guin-Lo Smiley: oyvey

And if you quote Mallory's "Morte d'Arthur" back at me I'll pwn j00 as his version was as faithful as Mel Gibson's version of William Wallace.

A more betterer example would be David & Angie Bowie and Mick Jagger, who all had carnival knowledge of each other but were riven by jealousy.

As for stuff that gets my pedantry gland excreting, try ridiculous use of the word 'absolutely'

And Americans. . . "Momentarily" means "for a few moments", not "in a few moments".

Hence my British buttock clenching when the Continental Airlines pilot tells me the aircraft will be taking off "Momentarily"

Ooh you started me now Joph! Smiley: mad

Every time i think of you
I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue
It's no problem of mine but it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
There's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of a fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
While every day my confusion grows
Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

I feel fine and I feel good
I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way, I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday
I'm not sure what this could mean
I don't think you're what you seem
I do admit to myself
That if I hurt someone else
Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be
Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say
