Never had to. I was always the 'smart kid' in class and received high marks on tests either by memory or just by using simple logic. Granted, I usually got ****** grades because I ditched class all the time and never completed any homework assignments, but that's completely irrelevant.

I tell ya though, I came to the conclusion that I live in a town full of really stupid people after I went out into the real world and wasn't always the most intelligent person in a room. That, or it was all the pot I smoked as a kid.

Star athletes don't cheat we just got re-imbursed for the revenue we brought to the school in a completely unique way.

I once wrote an Art History mid-term paper for a girl I was starting to get involved with but, really, I'm good at writing papers and the subject matter was interesting (something about Christian symbolism in architecture). I was probably more interested to find out my grade than she was.

I used to tutor "student" athletes when I was in college. Holy hell, that was a pain. They felt absolutely entitled to have me do their assignments for them, and tended to have a hard time grasping the fact that I would not do so.

"You need to learn how to THINK. You won't be 18 forever, you know. Your body will age, you'll have injuries; the chances of your being drafted to a pro team are miniscule. Do you want to end up selling insurance for a living?" I'd yell at them. "Well, DO YOU?"

Of course they never believed it would come to that. Sad, really.

I didn't cheat myself, but I've helped others do it.

A friend of mine just landed a sweet job as an insurance adjuster. She is working completely out of the home, they paid for an addition on her house (bedroom and office), new computer, daycare for the kids. Granted she has to do a lot of work, but they seem to really be pushing working out of the home, I guess it's much cheaper for the company.

Well, did you further your romantic interests?

To my ultimate detriment. I probably got more good out of the paper.

I had little to no discipline in high school classes unless it was something I found interesting. I did very well in History, English, Literature, and Art classes. Never had to cheat in those classes.

My two worst subjects were Math and Science (damn you metric system! Smiley: motz) So yeah, from time to time I resorted to peeking on other people's tests. I was actually ok with Math and Science to a point, but when it came to memorizing formulas/equations and knowing what formulas/equations to use, I was completely lost. Don't get me started on math word problems. They were the bane of my existence.

Strangely enough, I kicked *** in college - probably due to taking courses I was really interested in - although, admittedly, I did struggle with two required courses: Statistics (sadistics) and Biology. Never cheated in college, but I think my Statistics professor and Biology professor realized I was fairly hopeless but I struggled with trying to the best I could, so they passed me. I was never so happy in my life to get two D grades.

I never had to cheat, nor did I allow others to cheat off me. My thinking was if they were too lazy or stupid to do it themselves they deserved to fail.

My problem was I was too smart by half. From kindergarten onward I was bored almost from the moment I stepped foot into the classroom. In 1st grade I tested as a 10th grader (in large part, I suspect, to the tutoring my mother gave me very early on). I got terrible grades all through school because I didn't do the homework, was disruptive in class, and daydreamed when I wasn't being reprimanded.

I took my SATs and scored a 1530, but had a 1.3 GPA in school. By the time college arrived, I tested out of the classes I didn't want to take but was required to demonstrate proficiency in the subject. My study habits were set in stone by then and I got grades accordingly, that is until I met my wife.

We got married between my junior and senior year and she immediately put me on notice that there'd be no sex until I got straight A's. Needless to say, that final year I was a 4.0 student.

:D

Such is life.

I never cared enough about my grades to cheat. If I was interested in the class at all I'd pick up enough of the material to do very well, and if I wasn't I didn't really give a rat's *** what kind of grade I got.

Only subject i've really cheated on was french, but i've helped many, many other people cheat on math and science tests.

You'd be suprised how easy and unconspicuous it is to write answers on a small piece of paper, drop it, then have someone drop their pen and pick it up.

I recently took an Astronomy exam where the professor's solution was to allow an open-book, open-note policy (negating the value of cheating) but giving so many questions in a short time frame that researching each question on the spot was completely impractical. I've always been a quick test taker so it was no big shakes for me, but I could easily see how such a practice would frustrate some students.

My Biology teacher did this too. We were allowed to have notes but the tests had a lot of questions.

I think the only time I've outright cheated was in Engineering Drafting on a lame test I didn't want to take. I had the pre test on my lap while I was taking it. I wanted to get back to working on the house I was designing as soon as possible.

Other than that I would save problem solutions into my TI-83 calculator for reference during tests. As for homework.

I've always done fine on tests. A bit more studying would have been useful but I never took much time to do it. So I'd always end up passing with average scores.

Edit: Yeah...I've helped a lot of other people cheat tho.

I think the only time I ever really came close was on the Calculus AP test. I tried looking at some of the graphs that my really smart friend across the table from me was drawing. I couldn't make them out, though, so it was nothing in the end. I ended up with a 5/5 though :-P

Other than that, I've let a couple of people copy some homework assignments in high school, but it's never been a problem in college. My roommate's biochemistry professor is on academic probation this semester for suspected plagiarism, though. They take that stuff seriously; if you get caught cheating here, your academic life is pretty much over and you're expelled and blackballed at most universities.

Oh yeah, I've cheated before. Pretty resourceful, actually. I had broken my arm a few weeks before, so I slid a crib sheet in the cast. Faked a doctor's note for pinkeye and had an eyepatch on...more notes. Even a microfilm roll tucked inside my cheek that I could pull out for a quick glance.

Oh...wait, on second thought I think that was Chevy Chase.

Never cheated. Never needed to. I did get accused of it briefly though. I was in a physics class in high school. 5 of my associates decided to cheat on a test on lense/mirror/index of refraction equations. Now i'm generally pretty good at physics, but I had trouble with the lense stuff for some reason at the time.

For some reason this particular test was a 2 day test because we ran out of time. The cheater "geniuses" were using a laser pointer to point at the correct answer on the wall. teacher saw it, they got caught.

Somehow in all of this, my test scantron card got ran through the grader machine twice. So the teacher, all paranoid now thought that i had somehow snuck into the machine with my card, ran it through and then filled in the last 5 questions.

You have to unerstand, at this point I have an A in the class. 99.9%, and there was easy extra credit readily available. Even without those 5 questions, that test would have been at least a b, and it would have had no effect on ym grade even if I had flunked it.

So when i pointed out to him that I got all 5 of the last questions wrong. he kinda dropped the whole cheating accusation thing. If I had cheated I would have probably got at least one of them right.

Was amusing, but annoying.

how is it possible to fail at the metric system?

1 cm^3=1 gram
it's pretty much that simple.
