Ok so we've all been waiting for that fackin' witch to get what's coming to her, but now that it finally happened, what was your take on it and on what was done to her? I had thought they were going to just kill her, so I was a bit taken aback with the rape, the whipping, the facial slicing, etc.

I had figured with last week's previews that they were done with the actor who plays Octavian, but a part of me kept hoping that they'd filmed these first few episodes before they took their yearlong break and then the year that was in between was enough growing time for the actor. Oh well. The new guy sounds just like him, so I guess he's fine. I'm not really liking the Sean Astin clone that they picked for Agrippa.

I loved how they cued the opening music as Pullo and Vorenus gather up the children and leave the slave camp. It was very "Pullo and Vorenus Ride Again"ish. (can't think of any other way to say it)

How much time has passed? My husband seems to think that years have passed, but I'm pretty sure that Pullo and Eirene were gone for three months according to the caption two weeks ago. Am I wrong? Was it longer?

I wanted her to get finished off, dammit. I guess keeping her alive makes for a better storyline though.

The new Octavian seems so prissy, not that the other wasn't. I liked the first actor better. I am totally with you on the Agrippa/Astin comparison though. Too funny. I laughed when Octavia said that he was like a brother to her - looks like that dude might get laid after all. Smiley: lol

I think it's only been a few months since Pullo and Vorenus had the big fight but it's been years since Caesar died. Octavian has grown up a lot and Cicero looks much older too.

Antony's siege of Mutina is broken in April 43BC, about a year after Caesar's death.

Heh, thanks Smash. I'd gone to Wiki yesterday to read a bit and found that Octavian was born in Texas and his birth name was G-Money, so I stopped looking after that.

Smiley: lol Tare, I didn't even catch that brother part!

I'm surpised they killed the "pretty little man"
. I thought they had more mansex lined up with him.

I am NOT impressed by this new actor for Octavian. He seems wholly meek and ******** That "speech" that he gave to his army left much to be desired in my opinion.
He should go watch Roddy MacDowell's performance in Cleopatra a couple hundred times.

The last 2 episodes seemed like just "link" episodes. I hope next week something insane happens.

I do wonder wha tis to become of Timon (the Jew). Althought did anyone else notice the Atia seemed to get off by him nearly choking her? maybe it was meSmiley: grin but for him to actually let Sevillia live.. that was a baaaad move.

Yeah, agreed. She's not exactly the type to forget what happened before he let her go. Wonder what would have happened had Octavia come home during that torture session. Heh.

I wish he wasn't named Timon. I keep thinking of the meerkat from Lion King.

I'm thinking that nexr episode Atia is going to be going over to Octavian's side (like she has a choice)
and that is when Antony is gonna head down to Egypt for some hot opium induced lewdness...
It's going to be amusing watching the usually cocksure and headstrong Antony have his will beaten into a pulp as he falls head over heels for Ms. Cleo.

I'm still wondering who the guy that Timon's brother was talking to. All I can think of is some Jewish terrorist group (The Judean People's Front!?).

and I have no clue where they are going with Pullo and Vorenus... Does Pullo even have a house? Where does he leave his wife when he's out on these escapades?

and yeah, the timing does seem to be a little...skewed.. If you remmber when the Boy asked Cevillia for more money and he said the job was taking longer... well after TAHT.. it says that 3 months passed.. THEN we get into this last episode.. which would mean that the Boy had taken 3 more months to try to poison Atia...

They shoulud have said "3 months later" after that scene.. or somethingf.. It really must be challenging writing for this show. it does have many intertanglements.

I don't even watch Rome, I don't know why I'm reading this thread.

Er.. BIG oops!!! LOL!! Sorry Nexa. ;)

I think there's a lot more to go through before he heads to Egypt, so I don't know if we'll even see that this season (or at all).

Oh, I think we will. There's no reason to introduce Agrippa as a character if you don't end with Actium and asps and whatnot.

It could be the People's front of Judea though. Hard to tell them apart.

I suppose it could also be the Popular front of Judea, since we only saw that one guy.

On the HBO Rome board, someone said that the historic Servilia was alive to receive Brutus' ashes after Actium so he thought they would keep her alive until then in the show.

Brutus is dead 10 years before Actium at Phillipi which is a battle between the armies of the other Liberatores and Octavian.

but based on the series value on historical accuracy you're probably right. Otherwise Brutus is going to be dead within a few episodes.

Ah, my mistake. It must have been Phillipi. My knowledge of Roman history is composed entirely of what I read on forums, and my ability to remember the names of Roman locations is even worse ^^. Presumably, they will keep her alive until after Brutus is killed, whenever that may be.

This weekend should have a new one. The last new episode had a preview that stated "In Two Weeks".

I so love this show. We told my MIL that we watch it and she burst out laughing cause my FIL watches it and because it has so much graphic sex, she thought it was ****. She sarcastically asked us if we watch it for the "story" and we had to tell her, yeah, actually, we do. And that it's arguable the best show we watch. rofl

Good riddance, Servilia! Crazy *****.

I loved the marriage between Mark A. and Octavia. It was soooo uncomfortable. Speaking of which, Mr. Tare was literally squirming in his seat during the scene where Pullo "disciplined" Gaia. What's that chick's deal anyway?

Well, yeah. Smiley: rolleyes

I'm just a little unclear as to what her motivation is.

Well, yeah.

In fairness, I think he was making the overly trite 'M Knight Shamalanadingdong' supposition that the potion is for Vorenus' daughter, and not Pullo's wife.

You know, superficially clever but shockingly predictable and stupid? I'd tend to give the writers more credit than that.

The previews for next week don't seem to show that it's for Vorenus's daughter. They show Pullo screaming for help and then choking the slave girl. When I saw that I immediately said, "oh no...." and got all weepy.

Next week sure does look stuffed to the brim with action. I hope there are a significant amount of episodes left. :(

Not exactly. The scene was written to make it appear as though maybe Pullo knocked up the evil slave chick with his "punishment". But then the conversation she has (specifically the bit about putting it in tea and you wont taste it) makes you realize evil ***** is going to put it in Pullo's wife's tea and make her lose her baby. I suppose you could guess at other evil purposes, but I realized that was the most likely explanation, but didn't want to assume that everyone else had made the connection. They didn't *quite* beat you over the head with it.

Motive is still in doubt of course. I think she's just evil and manipulative. I think she's just a power-*****. She puts herself in the position (literally) for whomever is in power. She tried with Vorenus, but he didn't play her game. Now she's trying with Pullo. Getting the wife out of the way is part of that plan.

You puzzle that out all by yourself, or did your dedicated team of post writing gibbons stumble across in their continued attempts to generate a coherent post as they approach an infinite number of words? Didn't beat you over the head with it??
