I haven't started reading the books, per se, but I do like the movies! Regardless, it seems like the final Potter book is underway (unless she does a spin off, of course)

Link!

Quote:
LONDON, England (AP) -- J.K. Rowling marked the spot where she finished the final "Harry Potter" book.

"J.K. Rowling finished writing 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' in this room on 11 Jan 2007," read the message on an antique-style statue at Edinburgh's five-star Balmoral Hotel.

The writer announced on Thursday that the seventh and final installment in the series, which tells the story of Harry during his final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, will be published July 21.

She also announced that 2 (yep, TWO) of the main characters will die.

I started reading the books to Draccy and the Noblet when they were ickle.
As they grew old enough to read themselves, I stuck with the books.

The movies are pretty good, but the books have a bit more depth - not exactly Proust or Goethe, but great vacation fodder.

(And Noblet keeps reminding me that his tutor at Stage and Screen school was in the 1st 2 movies)

I hope Potter dies.

I mean he was a decent enough kid in the beginning of the series but has been a melodramatic angsty ***** (even by teenage standards) for the last couple books.

Smiley: bah

My Potter Story:

Originally, I wasn't a Potter fan at all. I read the description of the of the books and just didn't get into it. Someone else told me it was a children's series and pretty much I mentally just crossed it out as a more wordy version of "Meet Bill. Bill likes to run."

Later on, my ex GF sort of dragged me to see the second Potter movie. I didn't actually expected myself to get into the movie that much. I promptly saw the first one shortly afterwards, and then saw the third one (Prisoner of Azcapoopy or something?)

I figured I would love to start reading the books, but other than me not knowing what order they go in (other than referencing through the movies), I barely have time to do so anyway. I figured I'd pick them up eventually; just hasn't happened yet.

...

/slap

Wake the hell up! It wasn't THAT boring! Of course, this doesn't apply to those who skipped over the post; for you, I throw rocks!

The books are good...but the movies have one thing they dont: Daniel Radcliffe. He's really hot.

He's on the front page of The National Post topless...Hot...

He's 17 so it's not wrong for me to say that.

Are you insane? @_@

I was far more melodramatic as a teen and I was a good kid who had the important things; shelter, food and a loving family. I think JKR did a great job with him when he got hormonal. I'd have been far worse. Seriously, to think that his life is the one in danger and everyone is so intent on effin protecting him that they tell him absolutely nothing? When I was a teen, that was the one thing that truly pissed me off.

Being treated like my need for info and feeling were irrelevant.

I totally agreed with JKR on this. Frankly, had it been me, I'd have likely tried to hurt someone. Likely Snape. Or maybe in a bad moment, Professor Dumbledore. Not that it would have done any good, but since when do teens think things through?

He was really over the edge in book 5 though, that wasn't melodramatic anymore, that was psychotic. I do hope they tone it down in the movie, apart from book 5 being almost too boring to get through, they really want to avoid overdoing Harry's psychotic episodes in the movie.

Now it worked a lot better in book 6, good hopes for book 7 myself. (and ofcourse Harry doesn't die, everyone knows that it's going to be Voldemort and Dumbledore who die in book 7!)

Yep, then Rowling is going to sell the rights to her created world and another writer is going to do that again. It is Dumbledore after all.

I can't wait for the 7th book >< I'm still can't believe that they would release the last book so close to the release of one of the series movies.

First we have to have Dumbledore easter.

I'm waiting for Rowling to open a Harry Potter theme park.
