Way to many folks enjoying The Burning Crusade expansion pack for WoW, Shadow. While the very cheap mount sounds enticing, I probably won't venture into Vanguard for a long time if ever - it was dull and lifeless to me. Maybe in time it will get better, but it's a timesink that I just don't have time for.

By the time I truly get bored with WoW again - which should be a long time since I've started up new Blood Elf and Draenei toons on The Scryers (PST RP server) with my wife, my (rl) friend, and BloodwolfeX out here in California, my early 20s Dwarf Paladin on Shadow Council where a few asylumites remain, and my pvp dwarf on Anetheron (sorry, I just don't get on as much as I should), most likely Warhammer Online will be available for beta testing or released by then.

After leveling up both a Draenei and a Blood Elf, I find myself surprisingly enjoying the Blood Elf quests, area, and lore. I really like the Draenei, but I doubt I'll ever roll another Draenei after my initial one due to finding the quests somewhat tedious in the starting areas. I'm sure they get better (currently at lev 15), but I'd rather not repeat them any time soon.

It would be nice if we could all consolidate on one server (let alone one game), but everyone is too committed to their toons (and rightly so) on their current servers. Shadow Council is also getting a server split in the near future, so who knows where my SC toons will end up.

It's been nice, no queues at all on Shadow. That, plus Outlands means that I can even hit up SW or IF during the day from my laptop! Its ca-razy!

my little level 9 necro on vanguard?

rocks. EVERYTHING you liked about the necro in EQ is there, and EVERYTHING you didnt like is......missing. mana pumps, heals, mezes....all gone,

So it's now just a one-trick pony with no flexibility. That's one of the key things I *like* about the EQ necro (of old)...ghetto mezzes, pinch healing, even the mana flow if the situation really calls for it. And still one of the best sustained DPS in the game.

In any case, I seriously doubt all of nine levels shows you the full extent of a class, in any game.

its true, but it seems like alla has a hard on against this game and has burried the vanguard forum so far back that you have to search for it to find it.

Yeah, because hitting the "end" key on your keyboard (or even "page down" three or four times) to get to the bottom of the page automatically is so very difficult.

Twitch and mez were a couple of my favourite things in EQ. I remember being in groups where our Cleric died and I was able to heal through the encounter, keeping adds mezzed and then 90% rez the cleric after everything was dead.
------------------------------------------------------------

bah, masters of the dead were not ment to play hand maiden to anyone. warriors were ment to hold mobs still so we could stack dots. hehehehe, and for comedy hour so we could watch them die as well as the mob.

at level 10, you get the ability to harvest "parts" from dead monsters you can graft onto your pet for added stats. that sooo rocks. you get skellie form down the road too, but not sure when , and not sure what it does.

twiching was for weak **** cowards afraid to go toe to toe and prefered to hide behind some one elses skirts. necros died in EQ right after the launch of kunark and the great necro nerfing, which, i might point out was done by the same people running sigil now. kind of ironic.

either way, the game in the first 10 levels is more like WoW than EQ2, very casual gamer friendy. most of the quests are more solo than group. weather that changes or not down the road, i cant say yet.

ok, loaded it on a second computer.

amd3000 with radeon agp 9800 with 256 mb ram and 1 gig of memory.

slide show.

had to bump the resolution down to third from last, then set the graphics on high performance, nest to last setting to get it to run smooth. runs ok, but what a differance between the two machines.

gona load it on a amd2100 with radeon 1600 agp and 512 ram with 2 gigs of memory and see if the chip itself makes the differance or if its all about the video card and memory.

i gave up early on trade skills. with the game being new and every one running around harvesting resorces the second they pop, justsaw no point in it, not to mention i dont like trade skills much in any game/

they are kind of stingy on loot drops. the items i did get were nice for the level, but, for example, i looted maby 2 items in the last 3 levels worth wearing. im guessing that may be intentional to help support trade skills, or mabe not, mabe im just unlucky.

doing all the quests with my necro, and the game playes very much like WoW so far. tons of quests, most of them soloable. and where WoW made mounts acessable at 100 gold for anyone around level 40ish to afford over Eq,w 100 plat mounts, in Vanguard, anyone from level 10 to 15 can get one and you see alot of horses running around because of it. with my dred knight, im killing everything, friend or foe alike, faction be damned, as it should be. want to see if i kil enough of the good guys if they turn kos or not. hehehe

i guess its a good thing, because there is no instant or fast travel. alot of hoofing it, pun intended.

lag and frame rate was horrible last night. even on my good machine. i saw someone type there were almost 200,000 people logged on to a single server, dont know of thatwas true or not though. i would believe mabe 200,000 all together mabe on all 10 servers. who knows.

gona load it on my third machine to test to see if its the chip or just the card and memory thatmakes the differance. need to know before i startupgrading my second acount computer. will let you know the results.

---------------------------------

nope. none of the stupid ^^ or ^^^ crap. you go into an area of aggro mobs, you dont have to pick out the wandering soloable mobs amoung the group only crap. and most of the quests dont end up in a group only conclusion or mini raid.

it is definatly more like WoW than EQ2. but then, i have only seen the first 11 levels, so, what lies ahead is still unknown to me.

also, unlike EQ, either one, i was able to sell three drops, level 10 and lower, for the 15 silver it is going to take me to buy a mount. so far, im loving it. but then, i loved EQ2 till i hit level 20 also. thats the point you grouped or resigned yourself to grinding yard trash for the next 30 levels.

i think they have seen the light WoW blazed across the mmorpg universe. da money is in da fun, not da work.
