Until it says "100% FOR SURE NO DOUBTS CAN'T POSSIBLY BE ANYTHING ELSE GUARANTEED" then we shouldn't do anything!!!!

Global warming is not the issue. What's causing and/or exacerbating it, is. Sure, we do a lot of polluting and nasty things to the environment, but it's in addition to a natural cycle that may be occurring. The Earth has survived several major cataclysmic events (besides humanity) and hasn't turned into Venus yet.

Uh-huh. The gist of the report is that the consensus this collection of scientists is that global warming is exacerbated by human activity.

Of course they also say that it's probably irreversible by now; so huzzah!

Uhm yeah, how many of those were humans around for? They're pretty much saying we're causing it. The Earth will survive, no question about that. It won't turn into Venus either, but it will be a heck of a lot harder for us to live on if this continues too long.

Huh? Do you logically think through what you type?

The fact that humans weren't around for previous cataclysmic events suggests that the cause is some other factor. Of course, pollution and the deterioration of the ozone certainly isn't helping the situation, and may infact be prolonging or catalyzing it.

Maybe you should look "exacerbate" up in the dictionary, because you obviously don't grasp what's being said.

Does it really, Sherlock? Please enlighten us with more of your astonishing deductive reasoning ability. Humans weren't the cause of cataclysmic events before humans existed. Amazing.

No I understood just worded my post badly. I was pointing out that noone is questioning the Earth's survival, just our ability to survive on it at some very distant point in the future if we keep polluting the way we are.

Enviromnentalists are to blame for global warming.

In the 1970's they made us all put Catalytic converters on our cars, which made our cars spew much more CO2 and N20 instead of the toxic gases they used to... and CO2 and N2O emissions are the current scapegoat for global warming.

Before catalytic converts our cars were more toxic to people. But now our cars are more toxic to the environment.

I heard this this morning, and I have to say, it's a real downer because if anything, it made me look inward and realize that I can't give up my car or my hairspray, even if it means I'm contributing to a problem that is going to end the world as I know it.

Actually I heard something a few weeks back on the radio, but dont have an article to peruse and prove this, but that areosal, which once was thought to add to the decline of the ozone, is actually combating the greenhouse effect. So go all out on that hairspray, Flea. You're saving the world

Actually, it's that opaque pollutions such as sulfur dioxide are blocking some of the sun's rays from penetrating the atmosphere which has a slight negating effect on the amount of greenhouse gases. Not because the air is better, but because it's so dirty that the sunlight can't get through to warm the planet.

I don't think that aerosols have anything to do with it. But's it's too quick off the mark from the last global warming thread for me to feel like looking crap up again.
