Zombie attack what would you do?Follow

I would soooo totally take out 22yrs of Bipolar aggressions on some zombies. I would get a weapon, preferably a hand gun and a high-powered rifle for those in your face or on the rooftop shootings, and start blowing everything to bits. Sorry if you are among the living and you come accross me, I am not going to take the time to go around checking pulses before I blow your brains out the back of your head.

Get in my truck, pick up my gf and all of my friends. then drive over to Sam's Club and live comfortably for about 5 years.

Hell, I think I'd start putting the 3,000 rounds of high velocity .223 to good use. I may use the couple dozen explosives that I still have too (God I hope they'll still work).

If nothing else, I can blow myself up, terrorist style, so they can't eat my brains.

Well. they would still eat your brains. Maybe not in a sit-down formal, last supper type meal. The zombies outside of the groud zero blast would make short hopping, almost comical jumps while to catch the airborne bits of your brain with their mouth.

You know, kind of like those old double dare physical challenges, or at those hibachi restaurants, where the chef attempts to flip burned pieces of sea-insect into your mouth with his 'spatula'.

I wrote a zombie apocalypse survival guide a few months ago, using all information available from "training videos" (i.e. zombie movies) to develop my rules. I won't go and rewrite it all here, but I'll give my general plan and reasoning.

1st - Weapons - Automatic firearms are a no-no. Zombie movies prove that people relying on automatic weapons will meet one of two fates. A) Their gun will jam and they will die, or B) they will run out of ammo and die. Guns are good for one reason, range, kill the zombies before they are close enough to kill you. A rifle, or preferably a sniper rifle will give you the distance advantage. Proper use also means low ammo consumption as opposed to spraying your ammo uselessly. Remember, zombies can only be "killed" by traumatic brain injury. Shooting a zombie in the gut is just wasted ammo.
For times when you must face zombies at close range, a heavy bladed weapon is best (my personal preference would be a claymore). There are no ammo concerns and used properly can be effective in relieving multiple zombies of their heads. Make sure it is a heavy blade, blades like katanas may be stylish but can get stuck in bone, resulting in your demise. However, note that you need to arm strength to wield your chosen weapon as you may need to slaughter entire hordes of the undead.

2nd - Your Team - Teamwork is key, but be on a good team. Whiney cheerleader types may not be up to the physical requirements of zombie-slaying. They may also have a tendency to shriek or scream when confronted with the undead, alerting other nearby zombies and compromising your position. Morale is also going to be a concern as the strain of surviving a zombie apocalypse is taxing on ones sanity. Don't compound the issue by letting a bunch of people on your team who are going to be zombie-meat anyway. Your teams best use for victim-types is to draw the zombies in the direction opposite the way you are traveling.

3rd - Shelter - Overall, permanent shelters are a bad idea. Mobility should be a concern of higher priority than shelter. Holing up in even the most secure structure only gives the zombies time to assemble on your position. As a general rule this means that the numerical superiority will allow the zombies to find a way in, before you can find a safe method of escaping the structure and the zombie horde. As far as transportation goes, keep it readily available, in good working order, but be prepared to accept alternatives. Learn how to drive a stick-shift and how to "push-start", zombies will not give you a mulligan because you have a weak battery in your car.
In certain circumstances allowances may be made. Geographic isolation is probably the best example. If you can successfully clear an isolated area of zombie infestation, then permanent shelter may be a viable option given proper stores of food, ammunition, and supplies are available.

Well.. a bit longer run-down than I meant. However, a detailed strategy is far better than "winging it" when the dead begin to rise from the grave.
