What the hell is wrong with Hawaii?

I was watching the Antique Roadshow from Honolulu on Monday, and it was filled with people devoid of enthusiasm. It was boring, which is saying a lot since it was Antique Roadshow...

You people live in a paradise. Let's see a little more pep please.

Are you trying to say that Dog the Bounty Hunter is devoid of pep?

Puh-lease!

He said "Hawaii" not "Hill-Billy".

You mean aside from the pollution, over-population, tourist-driven economy, deforestation, a diet based largely on SPAM, and retarded real estate costs?

Does it have a red-dreadlocked albino surfer on the can?

Edit: Actually, I guess that's a red straw hat. I never looked too closely.

We don't drink fruit punch from cans unless we have to. The best place is McDonalds.

I didn't know you live in Hawaii, Pikko!

My fiance and I are heading there in May, and I think we're just going to stop planning a wedding, and see a Justice of the Peace there and get married finally, rather that keep planning a wedding that just doesn't seem to want to go off like we want.

Once I know exactly where we are going to be staying, think you can suggest a few good resturants, that aren't terrorist (tis what I call tourists, living in a tourist area myself)spots, where the food is good?

Well that depends what you like to eat and whether or not you're adventurous enough to try a multitude of foods. I haven't stayed in very many hotels here, so I can't really help you there.

If I ever go to Hawaii, I definitely need a Magnum P.I. photo opportunity. Know where I can rent a Ferrari? I can get the Detroit Tigers hat and Hawaian shirt/outfit.

P.S. Are you Robin Masters?

For those that don't know Magnum was the greatest series of the '80s:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnum_P.I.

Quote:
Magnum, P.I. was an American television show that followed the adventures of Thomas Magnum (played by Tom Selleck), a private investigator living in Hawaii. The show aired eight seasons on the CBS network from 1980 to 1988.

Magnum lives a "dream" lifestyle: he comes and goes as he pleases, works only when he wants to, has the almost unlimited use of a Ferrari 308 GTS as well as many other of Robin Masters’ luxuries, keeps a mini-fridge with a seemingly endless supply of beer, comes into contact with countless beautiful women (who are often his clients or victims in the cases he solves), and enjoys adventures with his two buddies, both former U.S. Marines he served with in VM0-2 (a Marine Observation Squadron) in Vietnam.[4]The buddies are:

* Theodore “T.C.” Calvin (played by Roger E. Mosley) (who sports a Da Nang baseball cap), a helicopter pilot who operates a tourist charter business called Island Hoppers. His combat-trained flight skills are often enlisted by Magnum during the course of an investigation. He is also very powerfully built, which Magnum exploits when he expects to run into physical trouble. With the exception of some early season 1 episodes, T.C. avoids alcohol, instead preferring milk, soda, or juice.
* Orville Wilbur Richard “Rick” Wright[5] (played by Larry Manetti), a suave and quite short playboy who is manager of the King Kamehameha Club, an exclusive beachfront members-only club. In the initial movie, which was the predecessor of the series, Rick owned Rick’s Cafe Americaine (aka "The Ice Palace") - a reference to the movie Casablanca. Rick also maintains a number of underworld contacts (one of whom is Francis “Icepick” Hofstettler, a loan shark, gang boss, and Rick’s stepfather) and is an expert in weaponry—he was T.C.’s door gunner during the war. A running gag in the series is that in brawls, Rick is easily dispatched by the opponents.

If you ever want to open a Magnum virtual reality tour, I'll invest. Magnum Retro 2007 Film comes out this year. Woo-Hoo!

I've heard before that Tom Selleck's favorite restaurant is Nick's Fishmarket, which is in Waikiki. My parents took us there once and the food was incredible.

You can try Chuck's Cellar (in Waikiki as well) for beef. They have really really good prime rib. Or if you've never been there on the mainland, we have a Ruth's Chris (where I will be dining tonight, woot!)

A couple other places that come to mind include Ciao Mein at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki or Matthew Fox's favorite restaurant, Hoku's at the Kahala Mandarin.
