El Presidentes last stand...Follow

First of all I would like to express my opinion about my disgust for the originator of this thread. I disrespect you for typing a title for a thread in spanish that relates to an American president speaking english. Secondly I would like to say I have played final fantasy 11 for about 4 years. My first account was on the server Fairy <place your rude jokes here>. I had the account for 2 years I acquired a samurai named "Draconian" level 63 only to find when I return 4 months later it had been deleted by square enix. The second account which I am currently playing is on the server Fenrir I am level 43 samurai named "Killbill". The point I want to stress is that in my opinion for the last 4 years a majority of the threads I have came across <I mean that literally they really aroused me> baffled me, I seriously couldn't understand why there were so many ignorant people posting. Then after taking a few minutes to collect my thoughts I realized how screwed up America is, I realized how screwed up public school education is, and more importantly I realized how screwed up family values are in America. the pure facts are that families today don't hire baby sitters, we buy electronic entertainment and ignore our children we let them form their own reality. The truth is I think a majority of America needs to wake up and educate themselves. I am finished with my rant, I also wanted to correct someone who posted something that really iritated me. "We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the Sept. 11" attacks, Bush said at the start of a meeting with congressional lawmakers discussing new energy legislation. Link" The person who quoted this thinks very close minded. First there are seveal documents proving that Saddam funded the alchieda terrorist network. He funded them with currency as well as training facilities, he harbored the network in his country. We had every right to invade Iraq and free the country of a leader who funded the 9/11 attacks on America. If you decide to educate yourself you will realize we found Saddam in a hole for a reason, he was ashamed of himself, he knew he was guilty he knew his time had come to face reality. I realize everyone is influenced by bias and from that point form their own opinions, but please for one second don't spout quotes from the news, actually read, research, study the world and the events that shape it.

Like it or not, Israel is our only major true ally in the region and, until some other nation in the Middle East wants to reform itself into a western style democracy, that's how it's going to stay.
I guess I'd see the point in that if Israel did us any good as an ally, but they're nothing but bad PR, if not worse in the eyes of most Muslim nations. They don't help us in any way.

They keep a continual Western-style democratic presence in the region. Paul's opinion on the Lebanon conflict aside, they have a skilled and modern military and, if it ever came to a region-wide conflict, I'd rather have their military in our camp than that of Syria or Iran. We exchange military intelligence and technology with them. Should we need it, they provide a handy point of entrance along the western edge of the region.

And they're willing to do things for us like conduct airstrikes on nuclear facilities in Iraq and Iran.

Bush knows 20,000 troops will do nothing. so do his advisors. you are missing the political motivation for this speach.

what he is trying to do is get the dems to say NO. and its working. hilary already jumed on the NO band wagon. get enough dems behind NO, then all bush has to do is ride out his term on the "deniable plausability" train out of town.

"it would have worked if the dems didnt stop us from suceeding". the mantra of the republican 2008 elections. tossed in with a "dems are weak on terror" sprinkle of doubt.

they are not so stupid to think 20,000 troops will make any differance. so you people really neeed to look at why the demand for more troops if they know it will make no differance.

if the dems had any balls, and they dont as far as i can see, they would answer this speach by innitiating impeachment proceedures. impeachment would go a long way to laying the foundation for rebuilding our decimated integrity throughout the rest of the world. a place to start building back our respect, honor, and with it, our influence throughout the world again. something this addministraition single handedly destroyed.

impeaching a president and dragging a hand full of men through court for the next few years is a small price to pay for the potential gain this country would get in the worlds eyes.

a gain we need. a gain that without would leave this great country......insignficant in the eyes of the world.

sacrifice his stupid ***** the gains are worth it.

I suppose you're looking at it from a military offensive standpoint, and I'm still hoping for some sort of diplomatic solution.

I imagine that most of the other nations there wouldn't like us much anyway even if we didn't overtly support Israel. A good military alliance in the region, on the other hand, is irreplacable.

I can't think of a Middle Eastern nation which qualifies better than one with our political mindset, our social ideology and an equal level of military technology. Until another one pops up, we'll be in Israel's corner until the bitter end.

It's cause we hate Muslims!

We liked Lebanon more when they had a Christian majority.

Ioph - Do you seriously swallow that crap about Western Democracy being something so shining and glinty that we should try to introduce or impose it outside of the West?

Where's the democracy in UAE, Saudi, Arabia, China, Pakistan. . . . .

I accept that some Gubb'ments are fundamentally sh1te, but the majority of those are a thin veneer of Western Democracy glued onto a deep bed of tribal factions.

Try slapping it onto open sores called sectarianism and fundamentalism, and welcome to chaos.

No, I'm saying that Israel represents our most solid chance for a significant ally in a geographically important region of the world.

A large part of this is due to parallels in government and ideology. I said nothing about spreading or imposing democracy.

Edit: I notice I mentioned that "They keep a continual Western-style democratic presence in the region". By which I mean that a nation with a government that closely resembles our own is considerably more apt to work in our interests than some Muslim theocracy or the like. Regardless of whether anyone else takes on that mode of government, it's infinitely useful to have a home away from home in the region.
