Carlo Ponti dead.

What a life he had! Threatened with excommunication over his divorce and marriage to Sophia Loren (no surprise he chose Sophia over the Pope); survived WW2 even after incurring the wrath of the Germans over his films; amassed a fortune and nearly lost it; survived two kidnapping attempts.

And made "Doctor Zhivago", somewhere in all that.

Well, in fairness you can't break up a marriage and then expect fidelity - nor does Ms. Loren seem to have fallen into that fallacy.

Edit: answering Flea's comment. Damn you, Nobby. :-P

She actually held to the popular "It was over long before I got there" excuse, but still. It's not what she expected, it's what he allowed himself to do. Apparently, even Sophia Loren gets boring.

Hard to imagine.

In other news, Yvonne de Carlo also died. Wonder if there'll be a third "Carlo" death today?

When I heard about her death today, I decided to wait at least a week to us the Carol Natural Instincts I got yesterday, so the gray streak would stay in remembrance of my favorite Munster.

also took me a moment to remember that the flags here, were at half mast for a local police officer and not a Favorite movie producer or star.

Elne, the flags are at half mast due to the death of Gerald Ford, not the police officers death.
The US flag can only be flown at half mast by Federal (Presidential?) Order.
Only the Baltimore City flag would have been at half mast if it was due to the death of the police officer.
