For you parents of babes, or parents to be, I found something that may be of interest. This is an article that has a video included about a woman who has been able to decode what an infants cries mean. She has a full length video coming out this week to help new parents decipher the cries of their babies, enabling the parent to help their baby much quicker in order to reduce the frustration on both ends.
After watching the video a few times about a week ago, I wrote down the 5 main sounds and tried it out on my own. Surprisingly, it worked. There are a few sounds that are hard to differentiate between, but with trial and error I can say it has helped drastically reduce the crying and I feel a lot more confidant in figuring out, or at least minimizing, the reasons my son is irritable.
The five sounds and their meanings are:
Neh = hungry
Eh = needs to be burped
Eairh (has an Ahh sound)= lower gas pains
Owh = sleepy
Heh = physical discomfort ( too hot/cold, diaper change, anything with skin contact thats irritating the baby)
I cant say for sure if it truly is a universal language for babies, but I thought it worth a shot to try out and have noticed that the Neh, Eh, Eairh, and Heh works out for my own. I honestly can say I am still having trouble hearing the Owh but then again, my guy hasnt had any issues with falling asleep when hes tired... yet.
Anyways I thought this was pretty interesting
