Worse I was an Elvaan!

Oh BTW I was farming mats for crafting in EQ2 this afternoon when I happened upon a rare crafting mat "Ruthenium Cluster"! I will take this as a sign that I need to sh'it in a box and mail it to Sassythief.

On a side note, why?

Why rush an incomplete VG out just in time to compete against WoW:Burning Crusade?

I can understand that they don't want to be releasing it during the normally slow sales period of Q2 or Q3 but why launch it in the same month as the expansion for the most played MMO on earth.

If the incomplete game itself isnt enough of a hinderance for the chance of success the fact that they are releasing it up against the most long awaited/anticipated xpac in MMO history probably seals the deal.

I think tricky was the bard, dunno if he was a female taru though.

And barf, Elvaan. I give Exo so much crap for that. Chocobo humpers.

You know it was odd, I went to Unicorn a little bit ago and the recent visitors list said, "Elderon, Pikko, Usagichan, Anonymous". I got all weirded out.

I get weirded out by the fact that you intentionally went to the Unicorn forums, I mean really, freerepublic.com is more entertaining than that forum.

Brad has pretty much admitted that they ran out of money.

Maybe they should have had 2 continients instead of 3 and used a graphics system not quite so cutting edge and comsentrated on enjoyable gameplay and game stability.

Thats a revolutionary idea...

--------------------------------------------------

its a ticking time bomb, thats why.

think about it. they started Vanguard 4 years ago, based on what was then the latest and greatest video engine and game mechanics. they built it on a playstyle that was the proven leader AT THE TIME.........BOOM.......

if they dont launch it SOON, the entire concept may be outdated and left behind before it ever reaches market. kind of like someone perfecting DOOM 1 and waiting untill after Quake lanched before they released it.

if they dont launch it this year, EARLY this year, how much of the market do you think they will capture after Warhammer, and the new greek god one from E3, and yet another EQ2 and WoW launch?

they needed to realistically, from a marketing standpoint, to launch it BEFORE WoW launched. they are already way behind the power curve.

its no longer about releasing it when its ready, its about releasing it NOW or NEVER. either they get it to market SOON, or they swollow the millions of dollars in development, skip it alltogether, and move on to something that isnt already soooo 4 years ago.

its do or die. right now. times up.

----------------------------------------------------------------

or more to the point, ran out of all the money he or any of his sponsers was willing to invest in a game that is no longer the proven leader playstyle wise. if it was a for sure winner, sponsers would be linning up at the door tossing money at them. it might have been a sure winner 4 years ago, but it is last generation game play now.

I would love to see an upgrade to the Smileys. Anyone ever check out the Smilies on the Forumopolis forums? They rock. That's a free site, too. Smiley: grin

I think exactly the opposite is the case.

The technology required is widely enough availible or cheap enough for people to justify upgrading to play it and the game is too unstable for those WITH the requirements to play without issues.

Another six months devolpment and investment would have solved both those, Vangaurd HAD (no longer) the biggest name of any non released game i have ever seen and they blew it.

WoW proved that gameplay is far far far far (infinitum) more important than being the most technologically advanced. conclusively.

Hell EQ and FFXI are completely outdated but retain loyal customers.

I was a passionate EQ'er (Level 70 with a few hundred AAs - quit before they raised the cap again)

I was convinced that I'd just lost the MMO bug, but now got into WoW - Note to self - if DF & DSD start bigging up an MMORPG, don't make eye contact!

I'm downloading the Vanguard Euro Beta now (got lucky with the key) and will reserve judgement.

Well I just spent the bucks to build a new computer. I just want a good playing game and not the BS that EQ has become. WoW was just to toonish and so was EQ2. Did not feel like a real game. Now would like to get my paws on Warhammer, since I am a board/mini freak and have way to many WH and WH 40K toys sitting in my closet.

Anyway. I remember betaing a certain mmo called EQ that just sucked. Well it turned out ok and helped make the MMO market fly. Who knows. Maybe we will all need to buy CRAY like computers oneday just to play online.

Till then. lets hope VGSoH is at least different than whats out there today.

We don't want to rush things but like I said we have a solid launch date. People are crunching and working long hours but the financial reality is we need to launch commercially, and soon.

I know that is not the answer you want to hear, nor I, but it is what it is and I've always been straight up with you guys. We will have a lot of work to do post-launch and the first couple of months post-launch will be just as busy as beta 5 with lots of patches, bug fixes, new features, etc. In that sense, things won't change.

I promise you we are doing the best we can with the time we have, even though we all, the players and Sigil wish we had more time, but like I said, there are financial realities. We are still I believe the 2nd most expensive MMOG to-date after WoW and that is something, despite the desire to have more time, I have to be grateful to both MSFT and SOE for.
