Yup they really must have run out of money and thrown thier game to the wolves, most of the (like 99%+) discussion over the last 4 weeks was that the game would struggle to be ready by March.

My personal expeience was Bitter and unpleasent, i couldn't even begin to see how bad things where as my above min spec PC just froze at 1-3 FPS and died a painful death there and then.

Any beta testers (Alla for example) want to give me the low down as to if it's worth (or going to be in 6 moths time) the huge expence of a PC upgrade?

I originally had high hopes for the game. I feel for the developers putting in a lot of effort into it, but I think in all respects (content, technology, graphics, game mechanics), they clearly bet on the wrong horse.

I got my beta invite about 2 weeks ago. The download was about 6(?) gigs. It sucked.

I was in beta for about 2 days. When my new Dwarf Warrior (or whatever he was - just goes to show how forgettable this game is), equipped with a sword mind you, was attacking a little goblin thing, it looked like my Dwarf was fighting with his fists instead of his equipped sword. Not the greatest of starts. It also sucked.

Unlike another certain game currently in beta, EQ2, and WoW, nothing in the world grabbed my interest or made me feel immersed in any way. Again, pure suckitude. I would have given the game more of a chance if there was anything compelling to do so. I never found it. All I found was suck and more suck.

Graphically, very heavily intensive. I had to run it at best performance and I have a pretty good card still (granted, almost 2 years old - dammit, where does the time go?).

The character creation was probably the only interesting feature.

Anyhoo, I removed the game from my pc, canceled my Sony station pass (Vanguard was the only reason for keeping that subscription along with EQ2, which I burned out on).

I also left another game currently in beta - it was miles ahead of Vanguard in all aspects. I just decided to focus on WoW and its expansion for now. I may play this other beta game once it's released and only then if my friend nags me to get it (I nagged him into trying EQ2 and then I got burned out on it, doh!).

Other than WoW, I'm only really looking forward to Warhammer Online. From what I've seen so far, I won't dissapointed.

The game has SO much potential but I don't think their are words enough to stress how incomplete it is right now. Especially for this point in beta. VG open/final beta runs like WoW in Alpha, it is that far behind.

If I happened to be playing LOTRO I would have to say that LOTRO is so much more polished and complete of an MMO that it makes VG look like a joke.

Releasing a half finished game is usually a deathtoll for a MMO. Such a shame.

I was stoked about this game for a long time, and was looking forward to it's release. The closer it got to this point the more bad things I heard about the fact that the game is not ready yet. I can't personally attest to this, as my application for beta almost a year ago never got approved. If it's as bad as everyone says, I'm glad I didn't waste my time.

Someone mentioned this in another thread and I thought it was a good description. Vanguard will be another EQ2, very dissappointing release losing a lot of potential players, and a year from now it might be a very good game. At this point I'm half tempted to pick up EQ2 and try it out, but there's at least 3 months of schooling I have left before I'll even consider it.

I've posted mostly the same drivel about this game in the Multi-game forum;

I've really enjoyed Vanguard in beta. Despite constant crashes, warping mobs and glitches galore, I wanted to log in and play. There is SO much potential. Ultimately, maybe too much.

It's not ready and admittedly (by Brad Whatshisname himself) there will be much content not going out with the game. Who knows what the stability and playability will be like at release but if the last couple weeks have been any indication, there will be lots of bugs.

SO...dunno yet if I'll be playing or not. I really want to because I want to continue growing my Disciple (that I'd have to start over of course Smiley: grin) but gosh there's the whole "principles" thing.

If anyone wants any specifics about the game, to have a look at screenies (the scenery is fabulous) etc, let me know.

I'll pick it up, just because I have friends from EQ that are in the Beta and they say it's worth the effort (always with qualifiers, of course).

And then we'll see. I have a hard time believing they're going to release a buggy, half-finished piece of crap, especially with all the resources they've ostensibly had... but we'll see.

I got my closed beta invite a few weeks ago too, but neither of us has a PC that will run it. I'm in the process of building a new one now, but after all I've heard, I might not even play in the open beta. I'm also having fun in WoW and looking forward to BC.

Due to a rumor or two that I have heard, I will NOT be buying this game.

You guys who have access to the other beta (Not Vanguard) should really come back. There are some exciting new features. PM for details.

You and Alla both seem pretty adamant about not supporting this game, which seems odd for a gaming site. Aside from their avowed resolve to not allow gold farming, is there any particular reason you can share?

I really don't recall Alla's specifics or reasoning, other than the game sucked.

One particular problem I had, the game NEVER worked for me, EVER.

My newest reason is on a personal level and due to the nature of my employment, I cannot divulge the details. (read: I don't want to be fired because I stand behind another)

Edit: ken't tpye godd

Doesn't allow gold farming, like WOW and FFXI, which we also don't have sites for?

But seriously, yuck, I hated Vanguard. It was like a less-fun EQ2, and I didn't like EQ2 at all either.

The last game all of us at Alla hated was DDO, and see how well that's doing?

so tell the Nobster and then HE can tell us Smiley: grin no harm, no foul!!

But on a serious note, if Alla won't support a game then it's probably not worth playing, I don't buy the Gold/Gil selling slant, from what i have seen so far in WoW gold buying is pretty pointless anyway, money way to easy to get.

It's pretty obvious to me that unless you're prepared to spend big on a new PC or you just upgraded anyway, VG is not going to be playable. it's big disappointment for me i was REALLY looking forward to it.

By the way, there's nothing on the Vanguard site about open Beta. Where did you get your information, Tarv?
