So I misguidedly took La Darqflame to Sconny Botland for Hogamanay (New Year for you philistines).

1. She'd never seen sheep roaming in fields before. I explained the concept of a Welsh Bordello and she's cool with it now.

2. She now loves Irish Stew, Christmas Pudding and Cadbury's Mint Aero

3. She now knows to squint when there's a Force 9 whipping the sand from the seashore.

4. She thinks it's funny to visit a 6,000 year old Stone Circle/Burial Tomb, and then photograph an Englishman having an emergency slash against the stonework. (No standards, you Ame'cuhns)

5. She likes Lighthouses, Wind-powered Energy Farms and Belted Galloway cattle (they are adorable)

6. She knows her way around a 5 speed manual gearbox. (An Gurl! And a Yanqui at that!)

Our trip was a tad compromised by a flat tyre which resulted in Nobby replacing it with the spare that resembled a doughnut and handled like a Walmart trolley. As all the Tyre Garages were closed for the holidays, we had to do 650 miles at 50mph Smiley: frown

It didn't help seeing the jpgs of my brother's new Ferrari convertible. Flash Bastage Smiley: oyvey

Still, she survived my prehistoric parents (and vice versa) and saw in 2007 with a large glass of Bailey's and a Bacon Butty.

All good.

Happy New Year

PS - Happy New servers? WTF?

It was perfect Scottish new year tradition, all the street events were cancelled and a lot of major roads flooded due to torrential rain and an inch of hail. Still though, chuck wagons were out selling hamburgers for £5 a pop and three times the fare taxi's were going strong! Good times good stuff.

Maybe it's time to admit the modern Scot is too pussified to have an outdoor celebration in January, and move the festivities indoors?

Didja feel it was 'the time' for her to meet the folks, or are you just trying to fit her presentation into whatever time they have left before they take a dirtnap?

err. yep.

I failed to mention that in a field near Dumfries, between a field of sheep and a field of Cattle, there was a field of Llamas.

McLlamas FTW!
