So I'm working up a menu for a dinner party I'm throwing in ~3 weeks. The problem is I want to make quail as the first course yet I've been unable to locate any nearby. I live in the sticks, so even finding Rock Hens can be a pain in the *** sometimes but I've checked a couple places out towards Providence and still can't find any stores that carry them. Anyone know where to get said fowl in the Northeast?

Oooh there's a thought - and you can season while you kill!

I don't own a gun and even if I did I wouldn't be able to hit one. I've tried shooting birds before and failed miserably. I wouldn't even know where to find them (outside the obvious, in the woods). Looks like I missed the season for hunting as well. =(

Yes, yes, and no. I prefer Gulden's or I make my own blend for a grainy mustard.

I've never had good luck with buy perishables over the internet. All of my attempts have produced lackluster results at best and the worst was the Poi incident of '03. Completely ruined my Luau/Pig Roast. /sulk

I understand you can find them in some of the upscale stores in Manhattan, but I was hoping to avoid the drive. That and I hate the city.

Wuss my ***! You are aware they have people in the city that aren't white, aren't you?! And the roads have more than one stoplight FFS. Trains run right through the middle of the ******* city! And don't even get me started on the indigent.

But in fairness: No one pays attention to the stoplights anwyay, and the trains run UNDER the city. As for the non-whites... well they're paid actors hired to keep the hicks out.

You're just mad because, what with your coveralls and buffalo plaid shirts everyone mistakes you for an indigent.

They don't make for very good dinner-party food. Too many little bones.
