Gerald Ford died today.

Quote:
Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon's scandal- shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America's history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93.

"My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed away at 93 years of age," Mrs. Ford said in a brief statement issued from her husband's office in Rancho Mirage. "His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country."

So does that complete the rule of three? Joseph Barbera, James Brown, and Gerald Ford?

Joseph Barbera? Does that mean H&B cartoons are no more?

Oh yeah - RIP Jerry. A bastion of calm in a sea of turmoil stirred up by the 70s and Nixon.

I feel bad that my first thought was, "Holy Shit, he wasn't dead yet?"

I was the same way. Also I was irritated that Fox broke into House and went on and on about Ford and the reporter apparently had no idea who he was. The reporter was obviously just reading the prompter. Every other word was "uuuhhh."

RIP Mr. President. Watch your step at the Pearly Gates.

I went to the G.R. Ford Museum today and signed the condolences book. Really I expected more than a Three ring binder, but oh well. I hope the family actually get's to read it.

They are keeping the vestibule open 24 hours for people who want to sign the book for the family.

I'm sure they will, and that's more or less what I would expect. He was anything but pretentious.
