Not open beta yet.

Also NDA means that you could lose access to beta for mentioning that you are in beta. So **** off.

I'll still be playing WoW - but this will be fun to check out...or it will blow, thereby saving me $60...Smiley: grin

I really shouldn't do this, but... Behold the power of about 15 seconds of research. Here's your info about beta phases.

On that note, this site doesn't even cover Vanguard. Why you would bring a question like that to the non game-related out of topic forum on a site that has nothing to do with the game is beyond me.

Many of us here play the same mmorpgs and are/were even guilded together. The upcoming mmorpgs have been discussed before and most likely again. If it bothers anyone, then they simply don't have to read the thread. Or they can whine about it, so we can laugh. Either way works.

agree with smoggy.

BTW, vanguard doesnt suck. its not going to knock WoW off its pedistal, but it should give EQ and EQ2 a run for their money. they basically are geared for the same type of players.

personally, i think sigil is bent and out to do just that, bury EQ for having it taken away from them. but, never the less, its not a bad game. will be a good game for those of you that play many hours a day. WoW is still the only game out that caters mostly to casual game play. vanguard wont change that.

the first 20 levels in any game are the best. the exploration. when everything is new and no one knows where anything is. has been that way for me in all of them, EQ, EQ2, SB, AO, AC2, E&B, D&D online(10 levels there), WoW, DAoC, al of them.

i bought my copy already/

Ugh...I started downloading about 2 hours ago and the download patching has been hovering between 2 and 3 hours all this time...Smiley: motz

I'll be in WoW while I wait...

I gave up on Beta testing because for some reason, I end up hating every game I've ever beta'ed. SWG, Istaria, and a few others I can't seem to remember...
---------------------------------------------------

yea, me too. it ruins the bang at launch, especially when you have seen the game in pieces. that and scrolling through the biotch sessions from the other testers highlights the little problem things you would otherwise probably never notice.

i passed mine on to some friends....who passed it on. none of them were terribly excieted about the game but they will probably play it. its not like anything else new is coming out anytime soon. and thats something comming from a couple people who still play EQ1 and are serious hard core gamers.

its more on the lines of EQ2, wanting to cater to the top end, but afraid to leave the bottom behind, so just sort of non-commital in either direction, which promises to please neither groups of players.

like i said, it will probably give EQ2 a run for their money.

If I ever won the Bajillion dollar lottery, I'd get some folks together to produce an MMORPG. It would be very lore-oriented, a grind to level, allow soloing but at a slower xp rate than grouping and demand careful management of player resources during battle. In other words, rather vanilla EQ1-centric but with a few key modifications.

I'm sure it would be an absolute loss compared to the rest of the MMORPG world these days but it would undoubtably sustain a niche market. Of course, no one invests in games for a niche market when you could potentially have the next WoW by broadening your scope.

So while playing WoW last night, I continue to deal with the Vanguard patching. After a few hours, I check on the estimated time to finish - 5 minutes. Great! I spend another 5 - 10 minutes in WoW, then check back. Now it says 6 more hours...after already downloading for like 4 hours! Smiley: yikes

I leave it running over night. I check it this morning and apparently the patching thing crashed during the night. Smiley: motz

I start it up again and then I get an error that I'm out of disk space - which is strange, I really don't think my 80 GB HD could fill up with what I have on it. Still, I remove a bunch of games that I'm not currently playing.

Not a good sign to be frustrated and pissed off at a game I have yet to even play yet...Smiley: banghead

On the plus side, I got my Gnome Warlock up to level 12 last night on Shadow Council - 'locks are good eeevil fun!

you obviously havent played EQ2 or EQ lately. apparently, they are still pounding out content for their niche market inspite of the over 5 million paying customers blizard has.

you ment to say "no one with any bussiness sence" invests in games for........
