Well guys and girls, the newest Asylumite definitely made quite the entrance into this world. =) Here isAshe Meridion Beaulac, born on Tuesday, Dec 12 at 12:11 pm. 6lbs, 12oz, 19.5 inches long.
Like his mom, when he decides on something he wants it done now, and it was only through sheer good timing that he was born in the hospital and not in the car.
Labor started around 8am but contractions were light and quite irregular, so the Mr went off to work seeing as I had been having episodes like that for the past three weeks. I kept track of them and decided to call the Drs office "just in case" when it went past the 2 hour mark. They decided to have me come in for a labor check, but didnt think much of it. I also called hubby too and had him come home to drive me in, but still brushed it off as probably not meaning too much. I called my mom who was on call to watch my son, and as I was telling her she might as well drive up to keep my son company, my water broke. So that's when I knew it was the real deal. That was at 11:15.
Hubby got home at 11:45 and by then they were stronger, but still nothing huge. I couldnt stand up straight or talk, but they were doable. Hospital is 10 minutes away. As we were reaching the driveway of the hospital I went from 50mph contractionwise to 380 mph and felt pressure. There was no transition time. I knew he was going to be born NOW.
Barely got to maternity in time. I was immediatly surrounded by 5 or 6 nurses and people shouting to get the Dr there 5 minutes ago. His head was already showing. They made me breathe off the urge to push until the Dr got there ten minutes later. Ashe was born a few minutes later, heh.
So far, this lil guy is simply amazing. He's already got his bigger brother wrapped around his pinky. Fairly quiet, the only thing I notice is that he's got no patience when it comes to food. Of course, it could be just a guy thing ;). He's been sleeping for up to 4 hours at a time, where I have to actually wake him up and make sure he eats. He loves to be cuddled, and will sit there and stare at you with such a serious look. He looks like what my family would call an Old Soul.
High test scores all around, APGAR was 9 out of 10 ( only because his feet and hands were a little purple when he was born) 10 being the best you can get. He can hear, he's got quite the vocal chords, which he only uses when hes super pissed, and everything else was A+.
Couple more pics of him from today
chillin in his car seat
Meeting the family Pug (notice how big my dogs head looks in comparison. My dog is tiny)
Family is having fun getting to know him and welcoming him to our crazy household. I haven't had much sleep in the past few days, but Im on a euphoric high and keeping the coffee warm when I get a moment. I got to crash for a few hours this morning after night duty and that helped a lot. It was the first real sleep I got since Tuesday. I asked to be released early from the hospital because I cant stand staying overnight there and just wanted to get home. It made a huge difference in contentedness for me when I was able to bring the lil one home finally. I should have been out by this afternoon, but I was able to get out yesterday, thank Bob.
So there you guys go. I'll try and get some more pics of him soon, but hes sleeping now, and my camera battery died so its charging heh.
