Deepcut

For some years now, there have been allegations of bullying at a British Army training camp

Deepcut has become a by-word for "cover-up" (a British 'watergate', if you like)

It involves trainee soldiers who wrote home complaining of briutality culminating in a number of "suicides"

These "suicides" included people shooting themselves several times, in the back of the head, with a rifel.

Nice trick if you can do it!

Will we get to the truth with this new enquiry, run and governed by the British Army?

Hmm

Jayzus you people really DO need to make sure guns stay illegal in your country.
Brits + Guns = scary bloody Brits

That WOULD be quite a shock to me if it was a government cover up.
Army cover up would be less shocking.
I am trying to recall ANY reported British brutality that I have seen and can't really think of any.

That'd be fUcked up in a lot of ways.

Shouldn't it be ran by an other branch of your government? I mean.. c'mon
That's like putting a pothead on trial with a bunch of potheads trying him.

the thing that most civilians do not understand is that to be in the army or any branch of the military you need to be broken down and retrained to say how high when told to jump without asking.

without that kind of "mentality" in the low ranking military personal, things just will never work in the military. you can not have to many chiefs, you can only have 1, everyone else must follow for things to work smoothly and for the most part properly.

How exactly does that apply here?

A Game of Death between the trainees, last one alive gets to be "chief"?

The English are always the bad guys in the movies.

Then again, I guess it's because you guys make them...

I sincerely doubt anything will come out of it. The mindset of the army is very peculiar, and Singdall's post is a good indication of how these people think. They honestly don't give a **** about young men's lives. Those that "fail" don't really deserve to live anyway.

The best case scenario is "a few bad apples" conclusion from the Army, and maybe a few people suspended. That's it.

Whenever I read about this, I think of Full Metal Jacket. And then A Few Good Men. And then I'm glad they abolished military service in France the year I was meant to do it Smiley: grin

Holy crap, 5 shots to the chest? And it's a suicide.

I'm not sure which is more of an insult to which party- the fact they think people are too stupid to know they're lying, or that they're implying that the British armed forces have such terrible aim it takes 5 shots to kill one's self at point blank range.

This tells me that the first post-mortem didn't actually happen.

I thought of A Few Good Men as well. I think it will likely end up with one person being the "fall guy" so to speak.

It is highly unusual for a suicide to shoot themselves in the chest...let alone 5 times in the chest. That alone should have raise a red flag. Just screams cover-up.

Where are the Red Caps? Lets get Tamzin Outhwaite on the case.

Hmm

Possibly. We will certainly end up with a stage show with moustachioed Sargent Majors in drag.

It is the Brittish Army we're talking about after all.

Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Army Colonel walks out

That's enough. This thread over. It is getting too silly.
