TEHRAN, Iran — Iran on Monday opened a conference on the Holocaust, saying it would not be an attempt to deny the World War II genocide but merely to discuss it in an unrestricted atmosphere.

However, the conference was initiated by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has described the Holocaust as a "myth" and called for Israel to be wiped off the map.

The organizers, the Foreign Ministry's Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), said the two-day conference has drawn 67 foreign researchers from 30 countries.

In his opening speech, the institute's chief, Rasoul Mousavi, said the conference "seeks neither to deny or prove the Holocaust.

"It is just to provide an appropriate scientific atmosphere for scholars to offer their opinions in freedom about a historical issue," Mousavi said.

He said the conference provided an opportunity to discuss "questions" about the Holocaust away from Western taboos and the restrictions imposed on scholars in Europe.

Oh wait, sorry, I guess I didn't read that closely enough.

Well, there will be a "scientific atmosphere" so they're on the right track.

Probably would have been more ironic to lead off with "Bush convenes meeting on Iraq Failure"

You know with him claiming it's not a failure when everyone knows it is,

Washington, D.C. — The United States on Monday opened a conference on the Iraq War, saying it would not be an attempt to deny the failure of the current conflict but merely to discuss it in an unrestricted atmosphere.

However, the conference was initiated by President George W. Bush, who has described the failure in Iraq as a "myth" and called for unquestioned approval of the 3 year old war.

The organizers, the Iraq Study Group (ISG), said the two-day conference has drawn 67 foreign researchers from 30 countries. All from the Coalition of the Willing.

In his opening speech, the White Houses Press Secretary, Tony Snow, said the conference "seeks neither to deny or prove the failure in Iraq".

"It is just to provide an appropriate scientific atmosphere for scholars to offer their opinions in freedom about a historical issue," Snow said.

He said the conference provided an opportunity to discuss "questions" about the Failure away from Left Wing taboos and the restrictions imposed on scholars in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Canada, Central and South America and even Antartica with its openly homosexual and environmental left wing Penguin policies.

If it'll serve to dispel any myths, let them discuss.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday told delegates at an international conference questioning the Holocaust that Israel's days were numbered.

Ahmadinejad, who has sparked international outcry by referring to the killing of 6 million Jews in World War II as a "myth" and calling for Israel to be "wiped off the map," launched another verbal attack on the Jewish state.

"Thanks to people's wishes and God's will, the trend for the existence of the Zionist regime is downwards, and this is what God has promised and what all nations want," he said.

"Just as the Soviet Union was wiped out and today does not exist, so will the Zionist regime soon be wiped out," he added.
Now that's healthy debate!

In fairness, the organizers of the event tried their best to limit his speaking time. He originally was going to speak for four hours, but they jewed him down to just 2.
