More than I did last year, or the year before that. A thesaurus couldn't do it justice so I will be blunt and just reiterate; I ******* hate Christmas.

I hate christmas trees, I hate the lights, reindeers, Santas, egg nog, green and red, shopping, a christmas carol, its a wonderful life, carolers, nativity scenes, advent, that stupid song with the partridge and a pear tree. I hate every single thing about the whole ******* month of December.

Almost agree with you, I hate December, I hate working retail, I hate being reminded that I'm poor as hell, I hate the Holiday songs and I really hate how commercial everything is.

However decorating a Tree with your 4 year old and seeing her face when you turn the lights on melts even the coldest heart and brings a bit of joy into a miserable month.

Admit it though, you're hot for Cindy Lou Who.

You wanna decorate her tree. Ice her cookie. Fire up your yule log with her.

ok that's enough

The fact that Christmas is so commercial doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact I delight in the fact that consumerism is raping the season.

Sounds like someone never quite got over not getting that Power Ranger action figure he had his little heart set on.

Yeah, but come on, it's only been a year. Healing the hurt takes time!

I like Christmas in that I get to see a lot of family and friends that I normally don't see throughout the year and then I get to drink a lot of beer with them. However, since I'm stuck here in the U-S-of-A for Christmas yet again and the yule log in my tummy prevents me from boozin', I'm rollin' up for the Christmas hate tour 2006.

At the risk of impersonating Nobby's avatar, I will admit I don't like Christmas either. I don't like December in general. I don't like Chistmas carols, I absolutely hate those fUcking Christmas songs in shops, I don't like the Christmas lights on Oxford Street that are basically just a commercial for some stupid gimmicky film, I hate doing Christmas shopping, I hate Chritmas shoppers, I hate all the pompousness of my family's christmas day... It's all so fake and depressingly stupid and pointless.

And then I get all confused cos I'm still not sure if we're celebrating Jesus being born, or some Scandinavian homeless wino having a beard, or if its just some Winter Festival. And, whichever one of those it is, I don't particualry feel like celebrating it.

Christmas is great for kids, though. I'll admit that.

And for the champagne.

And the food.

And the kids.

And the presents, sometimes.

But apart from the food, and the drinks, and the kids, and the presents, and seeing some family you havent seen in a while, and the lounging on a beach in the Carabeans, what has Christmas ever done for us?!

I hear ya, Bodhi.

Mr. Ambrya and I are celebrating the fact that this is the last year we're allowed to be all Scrooge-like. No tree, no lights, no wreath, and a very few presents (not even for each other--we'll have enough stuff we need to spend money on in the coming year) for those who usually give us presents.

Next year, the season will take on whole new dimensions, and I'm sure we'll be lining up in the stockyard queues with the rest of the consumer cattle (and even more horrifyingly, ENJOYING it!) but for this year...fuck it.

YOu still have a few years you can be "scrooged". Besides, when the kid is like 3, you can just give them an empty Pepsi box. Kids love boxes. Like cats.
