After 12 months and NZ$100,000, I finally, with great ceremony, hammered the last nail into the cottage that we've been building for my dear ol' mum.
The whole thing was done completely by hand. no machinery, diggers or cranes. this was part of the consent conditions due to our land being covered in these
giant Kauri trees, wich for their size, have really fragile root systems.
Everything, from the foundations, the materials, cement, timber, everything, was carried by hand, in wheelbarrows or on shoulders, 100 metres thru the forest to the building site.
She now has her own place in the trees, reached by a raised boardwalk thru the kauris and
nikaus, with a view over the valley. Its near a stream and surrounded by birdlife.
And now its finished!
Thank f
uck for that!
