Did anyone go crazy shopping? Did you want to kill any family members? Did you eat lots? How was your weekend?

Weekend was busy. We worked a lot in the yard - weather was warm - and I cooked roast beef for Thanksgiving. We shopped a little and hung out with our daughter. It was pretty good. Smiley: smile

I spent an indecent amount of cash getting the Jophiel abode up to my Christmas standards. Tree is up and decorated, lights are up outside, random Christmas baubles on flat surfaces, Nativity, advent calendar and Christmas cards all on order. One present bought.

I had an insane weekend and still have to go put it all in my journal and blog so I don't forget. An outline though:

Wednesday - Planned over and over for Black Friday, made an excel list for Toys R Us, went home, forgot list at work. On the way home, bought turkey to smoke and found out the store was out of oven bags. Put the kids to bed, then went out and stopped at Walmart, a drugstore, a market, and Walmart again to find that no one had turkey sized oven bags.
Thursday - Re-made list from memory at home. Ate dinner, made more plans with sis&bro in law, left at 10 for CompUSA's night sale.
Friday - Got back to ToysRUs at 2:30 am to find the line snaking out onto the road. Overheard people in front of me saying KBToys in the mall nearby was already open, packed up food and chair and made out like a bandit at KB. Headed to Office Depot to help out hubby, then went back to Toys R Us for insanity.
Saturday - Mom arrived, decided to go to the Hawaii vs. Purdue game because of the reported 42k attendance. Best UH football game I'd seen in YEARS.
Sunday - Sent Moms home and visited friend's baby, who looks just like my son.

Loot:
32" Flat HD TV for $550
20" HD Widescreen monitor for $179
UPS for ?
Free Dymo labelmaker
Free Scrapbooking software
21 toys for $188 (!!) - KB
Digital photo frame for $60
2 wireless routers for $5 each
Tax Cut with free HP Printer
Free clipart software
Wireless guitar for GH2 for $30
GH2
More toys (from TRS)
50 First Dates & Big Fish for $5 each

Last night I went to buy food and my husband calls me and says this, "Can you buy me turkey and ham for sandwiches?" I paused for a good 5 seconds before screeching at him, "Are you CRAZY???"

Had thanksgiving at my house and I had a really good time cooking with the hubby. Turkey came out perfect, as did almost everything else. Only thing that burnt was my favorite pastries which the Mr forgot he put in the oven =(

Son went to spend the long weekend with my mom so we could put his bunk bed together. We also went out for dinner, and saw Borat. I got sick Sat night, so Sunday was just trying to recoup.

Friday:
Worked
Missed the g/f
Went home
Missed the g/f
Became sad after the realization that there was no new BSG that night.
Missed the g/f
Went to sleep

Saturday
Got tires replaced
Guys working on tires break a lug nut and a stud, leaving me to go get it repaired.
Missed the g/f
Left car at place to be worked on, though I was expecting delay due to the fact that the shop was in the middle of a transitional period in ownership, therefore electricity was off, and they were understaffed.
Talked to jewelers, ordered engagement ring.
*really* missed the g/f
Waited at shop for my car until 6:00PM
Missed the g/f
Went to sleep

Sunday
Went to waffle house! (yum)
Missed the g/f
Did nothing productive
Missed the g/f
Went to sleep.

My replacement aquarium stand was finally done, so I hijacked a passing van (which happened to belong to my parents) and went to pick it up. Got it home, had to varnish it. That was about most of the day. Played games, etc for the rest of it.

Saturday:
Second coat of varnish. Somehow got convinced by parents to clean gutters over at their place in the middle of winter. with a pressure washer. My littel brother helped. then we got hypothermia and died. Never again!

After that I went back to the appartment, rebuilt my brothers computer for him like I had promised to before he went back to college. Then I accidentally tripped my circuit breakers and fried the secondary computer monitor (which was apperently built in 1994. had it for 5 years of that time, but it was free!)

Sunday: plumbed the new tank stand, all new hard lines for the secondary fltration system, cutouts for the primary lines. Tonight I get to swap the tank over and hopefully not die in the process!

yay.

After 12 months and NZ$100,000, I finally, with great ceremony, hammered the last nail into the cottage that we've been building for my dear ol' mum.

The whole thing was done completely by hand. no machinery, diggers or cranes. this was part of the consent conditions due to our land being covered in these giant Kauri trees, wich for their size, have really fragile root systems.

Everything, from the foundations, the materials, cement, timber, everything, was carried by hand, in wheelbarrows or on shoulders, 100 metres thru the forest to the building site.

She now has her own place in the trees, reached by a raised boardwalk thru the kauris and nikaus, with a view over the valley. Its near a stream and surrounded by birdlife.

And now its finished!

Thank fuck for that!

The biggest purchase, the tv, was split with two other people. :P

My monitor is so frickin huge that when you look at the picture of me and my boy on the desktop, we are literally lifesize. But then I had a 15" before, so obviously I would have found a 17" to be "huge" as well.

Thanksgiving was great. Whole family was here.

Friday I worked in the morning, followed by a drive down to chicago to see Tenacious D (which was a blast).

Saturday I had off all day. Someone that hardly works and is a casual employee volunteered which in turn freed me up for the show the night before. I pretty much layed around all day and tried to cure my hangover with marijuana.

Sunday I worked morning got off at 4, then went back to work until 11:30.

Sunday was the weak day. Was a pretty amazing extended weekend overall. I only get to see most of the family at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Friday night: Argued with the girlfriend. Went to bed in a bad mood.

Saturday: Sprained my ankle playing soccer football. It swell to the size of a puss-filled watermelon.

Saturday night: argued with girlfriend and iced my ankle. Went to bed in a bad mood.

Sunday: Found out my warcraft account had been hacked. Lost all my characters' stuff. Spent the day waiting for a mothershagging GM to talk to me. After 5 hours staring at a screen they finally shut down my account to investigate. Couldn't move because of said sprained ankle.

Sunday night: Didn't argue with girlfriend. Went to bed in a bad mood (just to pre-empt the Monday morning).

So, to all those of you who had a great thanksgiving/built a cottage in the woods/won the lottery/got some presents/got some sweet luve:

***** you.

I'd heard you won $300 on the slots.

Not much here. I was very lazy, pretty much sat around and played x-box 360 for a solid 2 days and ate a lot of leftovers.

My weekend was much like Flea's (go figure) except that, while she did outdoor lights, I raked and burned a pile of leaves the size of an ox. That and working on my research paper for my American Government class. After a couple days of going over craploads of peer-reviewed journal articles about filibusters and political wrangling regarding ANWR, I'm about ready to say "fuck the damn caribou".
