Who's having it at home, who's travelling? Hannah and I are driving about an hour and a half to my sister's house after breakfast, hanging out there for a little while, then heading over to my aunt's house around 1pm for dinner. Both grandmothers will be there (both of my grandfathers have passed), parents, sister and her boyfriend, and a few cousins and such. Nice to get all the visiting done in one swoop if you ask me.

There will be pie...so very much pie.

I'm not really going anywhere for Thanksgiving, since we don't really give thanks in Europe.

We're ungrateful like that.

But for Christmas, I'll be going to Puerto Rico, which is kind of in the US, but not really, but still pretty much is.

I think.

This will be the first Thanksgiving I don't spend with my side of the family. We are having a small dinner with the Wifeys side of the family this year. They live about 10 minutes away compared to my folks who live an hour and a half, without traffic, two hours+ with. We both have to work Friday Smiley: frown

We're hosting our first Thanksgiving this year, so no driving for me yay!

Although there's a lot of cleaning and other things to take care of, it seems anymore the holidays are more work than they should be.

I'd mentioned it in the Turkey thread but my mother is going out of town for the weekend to visit friends, leaving my sister's family and mine on our own. My sister and brother-in-law actually cook and entertain for the holidays quite often but this year we decided "***** it" and are just going to hit a restaurant in the city.

I hope he has those reservations made by now.

Usually we go to my MILs house, but this year we're staying home. I wasnt up for driving 90 minutes to and from a place to sit around and have a whole bunch of people try to pat my stomach. I knew I would have to kill someone. My mother and her husband will be over, and hubby and I are cooking together. Going food shopping for the ingredients today

Someday I will have a house with a dining room and then we're not going anywhere for any damn thing. People can come over if they want to see us, haha.

Flying to Long Island to MIL's house with wife and 19 month old. We acted too late in getting our tickets, so we have to sit in separate seats with the boy on one of our laps. I hate planes, I hate Long Island, but I LOVE turkey dinners.

Oh well.

Driving about 25 minutes down to Pacifica to have Turkey day at my sister-in-law and her husband's place. We'll be bringing my wife's mom and grandmother along. David, my sister-in-law's husband is an awesome cook, so it's great when the T-day or Christmas dinners at their house.

We'll be bringing pie. Or beer. Or something...

Tell them you're having thanksgiving with your boyfriend. That gets lots of folks uninvited.

Will be heading over to my sister's house with my fiancee where my family will pretend like they're talking to me. Probably leave before we even eat. Actually, definetely will leave before we eat. Family still never forgave me for signing my father's d.n.r. form. Ah well >.<

I'm staying home on Friday to do the same. Although every year I end up hating my tree and everything about having to unpack a crapload of decorations and find all the nail-holes in the wall (not to mention hanging lights outside in the cold), I love the end result. Maybe I'll make chocolate.

Not much decorating outside for me this year, since we're now in a townhouse. I just have a few things I can put right outside our door.

I'm thinking about dragging some of the stuff out of storage either tonight or tomorrow just to see what shape it's all in. And to take stock of just how many of the light strings are in hopeless knots, so I can see how many new strings I need to buy.

And I hear ya on the tree. I love it, but I hate it.

I love putting up the Christmas stuff. Its taking it down after New Years that I cant stand. Normally we do our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, but this year we're holding back by a weekend. My sons been dying for a bunk bed for awhile and we promised him one for either his birthday or when we moved. His birthday isnt until March and we didnt move, so unbeknownst to him we bought a really cool bunk bed and Hot Wheel bedding. We're putting the bed together in his new bedroom while he spends the weekend at grandmas. We'll be decorating the room in Hot Wheels motif, bringing up a computer for him to play games on, a music and reading center, etc. Basically a sanctuary from him to escape to when he needs a break from his brother. Something all his own. It's going to be his major Christmas gift. Best part is he has no clue, and wont until Christmas morning
