I can see it being the right thing to do if she were Suzy B. Congressperson, but not as the Speaker. As leader, she needs to look to the party's greater good, not her own personal debts.
I'd say as speaker she'd be well advised to pay off any personal debts she can now rather than feel or be percieved as beholden to Murtha when Iraq policy or whatever is in play.
I'd been under the impression that Hoyer had this locked up from the day after the election, but maybe it was more contentious then I realized.
